5 Ways To Get High Profile Interviews For Your Podcast | podcastingtutor.com | Podcasts | Scoop.it

My experiences with interviews
I’ve been very successful in having authors, high-profile bloggers, and highly-regarded open source programmers on my podcast. I’ve simply asked. As long as you make it easy for them to join you, and ensure that your content is relevant to their areas, you’ll be surprised how easy it is to score a great interview!

I’m interested in hearing your experiences in having high-profile guests on your podcasts. Do you have any other tips you can share?

Fun, Fame or Profit? Why are you doing the show?

Things have changed a lot for me, but fun and fame always take center stage. My voice personally comes and goes in the podosphere, but I'm deeply involved. As the co-founder and manager of Podiobooks.com, I'm helping media-savvy authors find a wider audience by mixing up self-created audio books and podcasting. Some authors credit their success at being a full-time writer to their working with Podiobooks.com. Knowing that makes me feel great!

Some Thoughts On Podcasting With Guests | damondnollan.com

Some Thoughts On Podcasting With Guests | damondnollan.com | Podcasts | Scoop.it

Why Have Guests?

Easier To Promote
The first thing that comes to mind is that a show focused on a guest is easier to promote. When I think about sharing our daily show, typically I'll write, "Room 3026 Live: Episode 462" as the title. That's great and all, but it doesn't explain what listeners can find within that episode. However, when we focus our efforts on one person or topic, the title can easily reflect that.

Guests Bring Their Own Listeners (BYOL)
Depending upon the guest and the size of their support group, I have personally experienced a huge live audience. In addition, the number of archive listens tends to skyrocket as well.

Learn From The Experts
This is probably my favorite reason for having guests on the show, it's because they are really smart people. I know a little about a lot of things, but when talented and experienced guests grace our show the place comes alive.

Builds Your Network
As a result of the previous point, bringing guests on the show not only provides knowledge transfer but it also builds your network. I have met some amazing people over the years and the show only helped facilitate a friendship.

Trafcom News: The Podcaster’s Checklist | Podcasts | Scoop.it
Are you considering audio podcasting? Here’s a quick list of all the things you need to think about and do.

Planning

What is the goal of your podcast? Why do you want to do one anyway?
Who is your intended audience?
Does your audience have broadband access?
How technically savvy is your audience?
What are your competitors doing?
Do you have the resources to produce your own podcast or do you need help?
How long will your podcast be?
How often will you produce your podcast?
Will you commit yourself to a regular schedule or do a limited series instead?
Have you researched and chosen a name and tagline? Is it easily repeatable by word of mouth?
Have you registered a domain name for your podcast?

Podcasting is dead. Long live radio

Podcasting is dead. Long live radio | Podcasts | Scoop.it

A New Definition

Once I clued in that people didn’t know what I was talking about, I changed my approach. I believe it was Bob Goyetche on the Canadian Podcast Buffet, who proposed using the term Internet Radio. His co-host Mark Blevis added that it’s like Internet Radio on Demand. Like a TiVo!

Bob and Mark’s new definition of the medium worked better than TWiT‘s Leo Laporte’s equally confusing term “netcasts”. It was probably his way of raising his middle finger to Apple for their attempt to trademark the word “pod”. You have to love Leo!

Libsyn has just created something akin to the Netflix of content syndication. Podcasters who join must offer one piece of premium content per month as well as make their back catalog subscriber-only. Although they already offer standalone Android and iOS apps for certain podcasts, MyLibsyn assists in podcast discovery by putting all the popular podcasts in one place and, by ensuring only quality product appears in the app, it reduces the chance that podcast listeners will be disappointed and move on.

Free Listener Feedback Tool & Business Podcasting Tips | School of Podcasting - Learn To Podcast | Podcasts | Scoop.it

SpeakPipe is a new service currently in Beta that lets visitors to your site who have a microphone leave a comment in two clicks. You then receive an email (if you want) stating that you’ve got a message along with the name of the caller, and a direct link to the voicemail. It’s very cool. You create your account for free, and copy and paste a piece of code into the footer area of your WordPress theme (it also works with other systems). There are some screen shots at their site, or if you are a member of the School of Podcasting you can watch the video I created to show it off. Check out the service at www.speakpipe.com
