The Edirol RO9HR is also a popular, high quality audio recorder used by many professional podcasters but is more expensive than the Zoom models.

How To Start Your Own Podcast: Getting Your Voice Heard… Literally!

How To Start Your Own Podcast: Getting Your Voice Heard… Literally! | Podcasts | Scoop.it

What podcasting really helps with are a few things, from what I’ve found:

Mixing up content types (your writing may be great, but it’s nice to mix it up for long time readers)
Include discussions with other smart people (Copyblogger has a 3 person podcast team)
More exposure (Pat Flynn asks people to support & rate his podcast, and it has grown big time)
Repurpose & restructure your content (got an old, evergreen post? Break it up into sections and post it as a podcast segment!)

Using Stings, Idents and Effects in Podcasts | Beatsuite.com

Using Stings, Idents and Effects in Podcasts | Beatsuite.com | Podcasts | Scoop.it

If you listen to any of the top podcasts, you will likely find they have a definitive brand identity. Most will have Idents or jingles at the beginning and end to let the listener know what they're listening to. Idents consist of a short piece of music, usually teamed with voice-over or effects to identify the podcast. These help to make your podcast sound professional and also build up familiarity with your listeners. Idents are either written specifically for a production, or purchased as stock music from libraries such as www.beatsuite.com.

11 Ways to Improve Your Blog or Podcast in 2012 | The Audacity to Podcast | Podcasts | Scoop.it

People read your posts or listen to your podcasts because they like you in some way. But a fresh perspective and new voice can be a big boost (especially to your numbers if you get someone famous). Find someone who can add extra value to your content or share an expert opinion.

12 Essential Tips for Revitalising Your Blog in 2012

12 Essential Tips for Revitalising Your Blog in 2012 | Podcasts | Scoop.it

Try new content types to keep your blog fresh

Speaking of different content media, a lot of bloggers get so overwhelmed with different traffic methods and writing techniques that they fail to realize that they could be putting their efforts to a medium they might be better (or more comfortable) at.
Maybe writing posts really is the thing you feel most comfortable at, but I’d definitely suggest giving a few other mediums a try. They can bring extra traffic from being hosted on the parent site (like YouTube videos) and can give your blog a appeal by creating content in an unusual form.
Here are some great content types you can try:
video (on YouTube or Vimeo)
audio on SoundCloud (or by starting a podcast)
ebooks
slideshows on SlideShare
workbooks
infographics
webinars.

Rode Podcaster USB Microphone: You’re Going To Like The Way You Sound, I Guarantee It [Review] | Cult of Mac

Rich and true — that’s how I would describe the Podcaster audio quality. During Skype calls and podcasts, my voice always sounded great and people could tell my audio had been significantly upgraded. Rode is a microphone company, and I can tell the Podcaster was built as a proper mic first, and a computer mic second. I also love that Rode didn’t try to make the Podcaster a jack-of-all-trades. This mic was built to be a high-quality, dead-easy way to bring your voice into your computer, and that’s exactly what it is.
