Go To Hellman: No-Return eBook Lending

Go To Hellman: No-Return eBook Lending | Pobre Gutenberg | Scoop.it

Amazon Unlocks The Value Of Fan Fiction With 'Kindle Worlds'

Amazon Unlocks The Value Of Fan Fiction With 'Kindle Worlds' | Pobre Gutenberg | Scoop.it

In a funny way, fan fiction is the purest form of literary art there is, the one most untainted by commerce. James.)

Pigs, Gourds, and Wikis: Video in Kindle books, thanks to EPUB3 | Pobre Gutenberg | Scoop.it

Yesterday, I wrote about how you can call external audio/video files in an EPUB3 document. This works brilliantly in iBooks and Readium, but so far, nowhere else. What happens when it doesn't work is actually pretty interesting. According to the spec, you can add a fallback message, and indeed a fallback photo or link. In this case, I've used the poster image as a fallback image.

There is no convincing technological reason preventing e-book interoperability between different formats and platforms, giving customers a free choice to shop in different e-book stores, a report from the European and International Booksellers Federation has said. But the Federation said open e-book platforms did not suit the business models of the main players, such as Amazon and Apple.
