Kevin Biles's insight:

As an administrator that works with a superb staff that goes the extra mile day after day and the Wake County Public School System that does an excellent job reaching out to students to help them be their best, I commend Ms. Chewning for her response to Time Magazine's repulsive November 3, 2014 cover.  Thanks also goes out to @valeriestrauss for her continued support for educators.

Innovation Design In Education - ASIDE: What Role Should Blogs Play In The Life Of An Educator?

Innovation Design In Education - ASIDE: What Role Should Blogs Play In The Life Of An Educator? | PLNs for ALL | Scoop.it
Innovative design crosses over all aspects of education. The American Society for Innovation Design in Education, or ASIDE, seeks to infuse curriculum with new approaches to teaching and thinking. Integrating the design of information into the daily conversation is an essential part of the teacher's toolkit and the purpose of the ASIDE blog. The underpinning of innovation and educational design is based on looking at the information available and communicating meaning for a world of learners. Thinking like a designer can transform the way children learn. ASIDE's goal is to bring together as much information, resources and supportive scholarship in one place for teaching and learning.

Teacher to parents: About THAT kid (the one who hits, disrupts and influences YOUR kid) | PLNs for ALL | Scoop.it
'I know. You’re worried. Every day, your child comes home with a story about THAT kid. The one who is always hitting, shoving, pinching, scratching, maybe even biting other children...I know, and I am worried, too.'
Kevin Biles's insight:

An absolute must read for all educators and parents.  Every child comes to their school with a different story.  Teachers work scenarios described in Murray and Strauss' post on a day to day basis.  Educators celebrate, worry, cry, support, guide, differentiate, and do what ever is necessary to work with situations out of their control.  Their ultimate goal, though is to attend to each child's needs so that the students can meet his/her individual potential.
