Genetic Roulette Movie, The Institute for Responsible Technology...

When the US government ignored repeated warnings by its own scientists and allowed untested genetically modified (GM) crops into our environment and food supply, it was a gamble of unprecedented proportions. The health of all living things and all future generations were put at risk by an infant technology.

After two decades, physicians and scientists have uncovered a grave trend. The same serious health problems found in lab animals, livestock, and pets that have been fed GM foods are now on the rise in the US population. And when people and animals stop eating genetically modified organisms (GMOs), their health improves.

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas will soon open a stretch of highway with the highest speed limit in the country, giving eager drivers a chance to rip through a trip between two of the state’s largest metropolitan areas.

Finally someplace with a bit of common sense.  Cars and Roads are designed for high speed and efficiency.  States and local areas just jack the speed limits down to unreasonable limits to earn ticket revenue!  Gotta love Texas!  One of the few states with common sense!

GMO alert: Eating GM wheat may destroy your liver, warn scientists..

The evidence continues to mount that GMO 'foods' and their inclusion in products may indeed be a major cause of illness. In the USA we don't even know or have a clue what products you eat may contain GMO ingredients. No labeling. Monsanto and others own the FDA and other government agencies! Be aware that many if not most of the processed/packaged foods you purchased probably contain some GMO derivatives unless they are clearly labeled ORGANIC. MOST meat and animal products contain GMO as the animals are fed GMO grain/plants before slaughter and they pass that on to human consumers!.

Arrogance and small minded quest for power is what TSA is. Nothing about security at all. I mean even a simple minded fool can take on several small bottles of something, combine them in an 'empty' contains and concoct who knows what. Break a DVD or CD in half and it is sharper than a box cutter. They have gone way to far. They don't profile as most of these agents aren't educated enough. It is one reason I don't fly any more. I cannot abide such stupidity and arrogance these fools portray.

They are spending million$ to HIDE the content of your food.  What are they afraid of?  Why are they spending SO much money; money that will be paid by the consumer when/if you purchase these products.  How can you make an informed decision on what to feed yourself and your family if you don't have a clue what the heck is in it?  When in doubt, DO NOT Buy it!

'Mind-Control' Gaming Devices Leak Brain Data That Help Researchers Guess Users' Secrets - Forbes

'Mind-Control' Gaming Devices Leak Brain Data That Help Researchers Guess Users' Secrets - Forbes | Plant Based Nutrition | Scoop.it

At the Usenix security conference in Seattle last week, a group of researchers from the University of California at Berkeley, Oxford University and the University of Geneva presented a paper (PDF here) that hints at the darker side of a future where brain sensors are used to let thoughts manipulate computers as fluidly as a mouse. In a study of 28 subjects wearing brain-machine interface devices built by companies like Neurosky and Emotiv and marketed to consumers for gaming and attention exercises, the researchers found they were able to extract hints directly from the electrical signals of the test subjects’ brains that partially revealed private information like the location of their homes, faces they recognized and even their credit card PINs.

Original Writing and Plagiarism

Original Writing and Plagiarism | Plant Based Nutrition | Scoop.it

Wiki edited by Laura Gibbs.

In my experience, people usually don't consciously decide to plagiarize, but they may end up plagiarizing "by accident" because they run out of time, or they get confused about the assignment, or maybe they copy-and-paste, intending to go back and edit later but forgetting to do so. Every time that I have seen plagiarism in an assignment, the person swore that the plagiarism happened "by accident." That does not change the fact of the matter: plagiarism, even when it happens by accident, is still plagiarism, and the consequences are serious. It's like when you are caught speeding or running a red light: it doesn't matter if you did not know you were speeding or if you did not notice the red light - you are still going to get a ticket.

Korean scientists develop lithium-ion battery that charges 120 times faster than normal

Korean scientists develop lithium-ion battery that charges 120 times faster than normal | Plant Based Nutrition | Scoop.it

A group of Korean scientists, working at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), have developed a fast-charge lithium-ion battery that can be recharged 30 to 120 times faster than conventional li-ion batteries. The team believes it can build a battery pack for electric vehicles that can be fully charged in less than a minute.

The Korean method takes the cathode material — standard lithium manganese oxide (LMO) in this case — and soaks it in a solution containing graphite. Then, by carbonizing the graphite-soaked LMO, the graphite turns into a dense network of conductive traces that run throughout the cathode. This new cathode is then packaged normally, with an electrolyte and graphite anode, to create the fast-charging li-ion battery. Other factors, such as the battery’s energy density and cycle life seem to remain unchanged.

These networks of carbonized graphite effectively act like blood vessels, allowing every part of the battery to recharge at the same time — thus speeding up recharge by 30 to 120 times.

Now, for all intents and purposes, this is a standard lithium-ion battery that could be used in smartphones and laptops — but the network of conductive traces does increase the overall size of the battery, so it’s probably better suited for use in electric vehicles (EVs). Obviously, an EV that can be recharged in under a minute is pretty crazy — though it still only brings them in-line with their gas-guzzling cousins. Being able to charge quickly is convenient, but it doesn’t get around the fact that li-ion battery packs are incredibly expensive — and the Korean carbonized LMO battery certainly won’t be cheap.
