Fooducate

Fooducate | Plant Based Nutrition | Scoop.it
Fooducate helps you make better food choices. Fooducate's scientific algorithms generate a letter grade (A, B, C, or D) for each product scanned, along with brief explanations and warnings about its nutrients and ingredients.
Skip Stein's insight:

Monsanto is not satisfied with it's control over most of GMO production, it wants TOTAL Control of the Planetary Food Supplies.  What do you think will/can happen when they do?  GMO stuff is already in MOST processed foods, what if Monsanto decides to dramatically increase the license fees on its patents of GMO seeds?  BOOM the prices will skyrocket, those who don't pay will be sued, and the FDA (controlled by Monsanto) may try to enforce it with police action.  Other Nations may do likewise.  Just a possible scenario.

We STILL have no idea of the long term impact/effects of consuming GMO products.  Only Monsanto has presented test results, the FDA has NOT done independent analysis.  So the FDA just trusts the Wolf in the Henhouse huh?  Me? not so much.  We refuse to consume ANY GMO products.  Have trouble figuring out what is GMO and not?  Get the smartphone app: FOODUCATE (http://www.fooducate.com/) it does a great job of telling what foods (just scan the bar code) that do and may have GMO ingredients!

If WE the Consumers refuse to purchase these contaminated products (yea it is tough if you eat junk and processed food, but not so much for healthy nutrition eaters of whole foods), we CAN stop Monsanto and the others who are trying to totally control our Food Supplies on a Planetary Basis.

Earth Day is coming up soon.  Celebrate by refusing to purchase ANY GMO laced products!

Medical announcement reveals: Almost everything you've been told about prostate cancer is wrong

Medical announcement reveals: Almost everything you've been told about prostate cancer is wrong | Plant Based Nutrition | Scoop.it
Medical announcement reveals: Almost everything you've been told about prostate cancer is wrong
Skip Stein's insight:

On this I totally disagree.  Yes, 'treatment' is dangerous (surgery, radiation, chemo, freezing/crio, etc.) but the sooner it is detected, IF you change your diet/nutrition/lifestyle, you CAN slow/stop/reverse the progression.  If you don't know, you may not have the incentive to change from the Standard American Diet to a more healthy Plant Based Nutritional Diet!  The traditional 'treatment' of prostate cancer is primitive and boarders on macabre.

While some prostate cancers are slow growth, some are not.  There are some (consider the Gleason Scores) considerable faster growing so should be dealt with.  Changing lifestyle is one of the best ways to do so.  Plant Based Nutrition, a bit more exercise and some judicial use of good supplements to boost the immune system (especially during the early period of the lifestyle change) is a great idea.  I speak from experience as do so many others (many of them our students).

Get the PSA test done, it is only a blood test and not expensive and usually covered by most medical insurance plans (you can get it independently for about $75.00).  Monitor the results, chart them and if there is a 'spike' or more than a point or two change year to year, then you should check further.  Remember your doctor only looks at the single result and does NOT monitor (well most do not have time or resources to do so), so YOU do it.  It is often NOT the level of the result but the CHANGE that is indicative.

Defense Department classifies Catholics, evangelicals as extremists

Defense Department classifies Catholics, evangelicals as extremists | Plant Based Nutrition | Scoop.it
The Defense Department came under fire Thursday for a U.S. Army Reserve presentation that classified Catholics and Evangelical Protestants as “extremist” religious groups alongside al Qaeda and the Ku Klux Klan.
Skip Stein's insight:

What a bunch of imbeciles!  Scares me to think that we depend on the Defense Department to protect US from invaders when they classify Catholics (peace and love for the most part) as dangerous while allowing Muslims to run free?
