Chateau Lamothe de Haux Blanc │Red Wine Diva

Chateau Lamothe de Haux Blanc │Red Wine Diva | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it

The Chateau Lamothe de Haux Blanc 2011 is made in the traditional Bordeaux style with a blend of 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Semmilon, and 20% Muscadelle.  Even though the origins for this wine date back centuries, white Bordeaux went out of vogue for several years as red blends became more affordable to the every day wine drinker.  However, in more recent years, white wines have come back stronger than ever and have reclaimed their place in the wine world.

Planet Bordeaux's insight:

This wine review is great to discover Château Lamothe de Haux Blanc presented on Today's Bordeaux.

New Hampshire Wine-man: Château de Bonhoste Grand Vin 2009 Bordeaux Supérieur

New Hampshire Wine-man: Château de Bonhoste Grand Vin 2009 Bordeaux Supérieur | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it

Nearly the best red dinner wine I can think of, Château de Bonhoste 2009 Bordeaux should makes a perfect dinner companion for that large gathering, and won't break the bank either. Come to think of it, it seems every time I go to some kind of banquet or large gathering, the caterers serve this cheap-type $5.00 a bottle Merlot, but because everyone is preoccupied, the plonk is ignored by most! (Song for all us old folk) I wonder-wonder who, not knowing anything about catering or just how restaurants decide on a wine to serve for showers, weddings, or other large groups, just how is a wine chosen? Is it the house wine, is it the cost, or maybe the availability; whatever method is applied, let me challenge those in the position to decide, to decide on a satisfying wine.

Planet Bordeaux's insight:

An excellent value presented in this review by the New Hampshire wine-man!

Marc Soucy Writes about Wine here at www.MarcWine.com: Focus on Bordeaux: Chateau Bonnet Bordeaux Rosé

Marc Soucy Writes about Wine here at www.MarcWine.com: Focus on Bordeaux: Chateau Bonnet Bordeaux Rosé | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it

Andre Lurton brings us this different spin on Rosé. Bordeaux Rosé is different from many other typical Rosés in that the focused flavors of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon can produce a different flavor profile from the Grenache and Cinsault based Rosés that dominate much of southern France. The result can be a darker berry fruit flavor profile, and a bit more tannin. The grapes for this wine are partially hand picked, partially hand triaged before machine harvesting, and cool fermented in stainless steel to protect the fresh flavors.

Planet Bordeaux's insight:

This article from Marc Soucy is an excellent way to learn about Château Bonnet and from the wine! Also with a good food and wine pairing suggestion.

“This may be the best $8 you’ll spend on a wine this year.

Chateau Roquefort is one of the three chateau-designated properties under the direction of Frederic Bellanger. These vineyards are situated on elevated soils on an escarpment in the Entre-Deux-Mers, that prosperous are between the Dordogne and Garonne Rivers that define and divide the region.”

Chateau Panchille Bordeaux Supérieur | WineAccess.com

Chateau Panchille Bordeaux Supérieur | WineAccess.com | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it

"Deep purple in color, with beautiful aromas of blackberry and black cherry, this knockout 2010 is rich, compact and finely muscled. Dense and chewy in texture, the almost New World opulence is buttressed by fine, dusty tannins that explain why Sirat and so many others are calling this the vintage of their lifetimes."

Planet Bordeaux's insight:

A wine review from wineacces.com about an affordable wine produced by Château Panchille. Recommended by Robert Parker, this wine is available in most of the U.S (read the article to see where this wine may be shipped).

Bordeaux Without The Bloodshed | Intoxicology Report by Chris Kassel

Bordeaux Without The Bloodshed | Intoxicology Report by Chris Kassel | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it
AOC Bordeaux Supérieur (...) tend to carry higher price tags than straight-shooting Appellation Bordeaux Controlee, but in the grand scheme of this often over-priced region, not that much higher. If the ‘sweet spot’ for a balanced, drinkable, identifiably ‘characteristic’ Bordelaise wine is around $25, the following gang of five, imported by Planet Bordeaux, are all under $15.

An excellent low-end introduction to the multifarious flavors and fragrances available in the wine capital of the world.
Planet Bordeaux's insight:

Chris Kassel summed it up well in his article on his Intoxicology Report: ”No B.S. in Bordeaux Supérieur.”

Good Value, High Quality Bordeaux Wine: Chateau Roc de Segur | Bordeaux Undiscovered – Nick's Blog | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it

It has flavours of rich blackberry cassis, ripe raspberries, cedar and spice with a hint of black cherry, herbs and earthiness. The tannins are velvety and supple; the wine is very well balanced and has a lovely long finish. Roc de Segur is an excellent food wine that pairs brilliantly with roast duck, venison, pheasant, lamb, beef and rich casseroles.

2009 Chateau Lescalle Bordeaux Supérieur | Taste My Grapes

2009 Chateau Lescalle Bordeaux Supérieur | Taste My Grapes | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it

“Located beside the most famous vineyard of the world, Château Lescalle was built in 1875 in Macau by Emmanuel Tessandier, at the edge of the Margaux commune and it consists of two main plots of land, one located near the Castle Paruades Maucamps and the other called Lescalle. It is currently owned by the Tessandier family the proprietors of several fantastic Bordeaux properties as Château Maucamps. Château Maucamps AOC Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois Supérieur is described by Oz Clark as similar quality level than Château La Lagune and Château Cantemerle. The 20 hectares of vineyards are located on the alluvial, clayey soils and they are covered with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The winemaking in the estate follows the traditional Médoc style. The vines are very densely planted. The yield is limited in order to concentrate fruity flavours. The wine goes through long maceration process and then aging in oak barriques. By delivering wines of a consistent high quality, Château Lescalle is one of the best petit château within Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. It has received several awards and citations in Le Guide Hachette.”

Planet Bordeaux's insight:

Hugo Oliveira from TASTE MY GRAPES has staked his claim on Bordeaux wines, and most particularly on 2009 Château Lescalle Bordeaux Supérieur. An excellent wine review about a good value and affordable wine.

Planet Bordeaux: Chateau Roc de Levraut rouge, Bordeaux Superieur, 2010

Planet Bordeaux: Chateau Roc de Levraut rouge, Bordeaux Superieur, 2010 | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it

“A beneficial blend of 50% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2010 is in the classic structured style that shows red and black fruit, a touch of cassis, that mixture of dark berry and sage-like herbal musk so prevalent in Bordeaux reds, and a lovely plump blueberry from the Cabernet Franc. The tannins are noticeable, but don’t dominate the wine, suggesting instead that there will likely be a few years of aging capacity here.”

$9 - 2009 Tour de Luchey Bordeaux - West Concord Liquors

$9 - 2009 Tour de Luchey Bordeaux - West Concord Liquors | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it
What does it taste like? Dark in color, it has a gorgeous nose, somewhat floral blackberry and black currant with a hint of chocolate. Flavors echo in the mouth, turning decidedly dry and earthy, with a hint of old wood and a note of leather that emerges with air. Full bodied and structured, you could easily lay this down for five years or drink it now
Planet Bordeaux's insight:

As the West Concord Liquors said in its report, Tour de Luchey is a great value Bordeaux wine.
