Marc Soucy Writes about Wine here at www.MarcWine.com: Focus on Bordeaux: Chateau Bonnet Bordeaux Rosé

Marc Soucy Writes about Wine here at www.MarcWine.com: Focus on Bordeaux: Chateau Bonnet Bordeaux Rosé | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it

Andre Lurton brings us this different spin on Rosé. Bordeaux Rosé is different from many other typical Rosés in that the focused flavors of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon can produce a different flavor profile from the Grenache and Cinsault based Rosés that dominate much of southern France. The result can be a darker berry fruit flavor profile, and a bit more tannin. The grapes for this wine are partially hand picked, partially hand triaged before machine harvesting, and cool fermented in stainless steel to protect the fresh flavors.

Planet Bordeaux's insight:

This article from Marc Soucy is an excellent way to learn about Château Bonnet and from the wine! Also with a good food and wine pairing suggestion.

Fine article from Kevin Keith on his blog, Under The Grape Tree - Diary Of A Wine Madman. "This time out, we were tasting 6 red Bordeaux wines, each with a price tag no more than $20, and each with a fairly different blend involved... Yes, Virginia, they like to blend their wines in Bordeaux.”

Great Value Bordeaux Wines | Vindulge

Great Value Bordeaux Wines | Vindulge | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it

...What I discovered is that not only is Bordeaux (the city) one of the coolest and most beautiful cities I’ve traveled to with its beautiful architecture and incredible restaurants, but wines from the region are incredibly versatile. Many think of Bordeaux for its most expensive and sought after red wines — you know, the ones that can sell for thousands of dollars for a single bottle — but these wines account for less than 5% of the regions total production. The wines that don’t get much attention are the everyday great values (wines retailing between $8-$25), which account for over 80% of wines produced in the region. These are the wines I remember drinking everyday with lunch and dinners during our visit.

Get Set For The Next Twitter Tasting - Wine n°1 Château Bonnet Réserve, Bordeaux AOC

Get Set For The Next Twitter Tasting - Wine n°1 Château Bonnet Réserve, Bordeaux AOC | Planet Bordeaux - The Heart & Soul of Bordeaux | Scoop.it

Château Bonnet Réserve will be the first wine of our next Twitter tasting, which will take place on Friday, November 16th. This time, we’ll be tasting six red wines, one Bordeaux AOC and five Bordeaux Supérieurs.

Château Bonnet Réserve is a Bordeaux AOC produced by the legendary André Lurton. Retailing in the States for about $12, it’s 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, and was awarded a Bronze Medal at the 2012 Los Angeles International Wine Competition.

Great for pairing with poultry as well as red meat, as recommended in the March 2012 edition of Family Circle Magazine (see below):

http://www.familycircle.com/recipes/healthy-eating/family-dinners/healthy-ethnic-food/#page=11

The article mentions the 2007 Château Bonnet, but we’ll be tasting the 2009, which is more structured and voluptuous, with velvety red fruit and a touch of fresh mint.

Stay tuned for more info on the other wines, and see you on November 16th!
