Analysis found that those Pins that focus on a specific product, rather than brand-building or lifestyle content, score much higher when it comes to engagement. In short, over 70% of the most engaging Pins are product-focused, showing what the primary consumer intent on social commerce sites is. That’s not to say that retailers shouldn’t invest in brand-building on these channels, just that the balance needs to tip towards product.

A lot of these articles are telling people to make sure they add the "pin it" button to their actual websites which is awesome because then people are even doing your work for you. They're pinning your stuff without you having to really lift a finger. Another thing that keeps popping up is to be active. This seems like a given but unlike Facebook where there can be a negative response to "too much" activity in a way where everyone's newsfeed is being clogged up, the point of Pinterest is for people to see stuff they've already confirmed by following you that they love your posts.
