Framing has many different meanings and many uses as terminology, spanning from artistic photographs/photographic cropping, reflective framed surfaces, and of course, picture framing itself. Exploring the art of framing is diverse and complicated, but an interesting obervation of what framing has meant in the past and what it means today. Set in the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, this exhibit aims to explore the meaning of framing in both a past and present sense. This exhibit is hosted by Cornell s History of Art majors, showing that these students not only study the history behind the art, but the artistic perspective itself. You can find out more about Cornell and this gallery at the link provided below. Students at Cornell discuss all the meanings of framing as it relates to art.
One of our customer s favorite qualities about Frame USA? Our frames aren t just at a lower price point than our competitors, the frames also come to you ready-made. No assembly required. Sounds like a novel concept, right? Buy a frame, have it sent to you and ready to use. Unfortunately, not all online framing companies send picture frames completely assembled by the time they hit your doorstep. Sometime s there s assembly required, and it s not always easy to assemble. You may also be told that this makes the frames cheaper for both consumer and business. At Frame USA, however, we like to break those trends. We know that having your frames ready-made and ready to hang is important just as important, in fact, as a low cost. See the video below, where our CEO Dan Regenold covers our Wood Frame assembly and what you can expect from a wood picture frame from Frame USA! Interested? Fill out a custom quote today! Crafts can be a great way to pass the time on a rainy day, and it’s important to teach your child how to do crafts when bored instead of always watching television or playing on the computer. Crafting with your children is also beneficial for your relationship with your children and for them as individuals. The following are four reasons you should do crafts with your kids. 1. It allows you to spend quality time together. Everyone’s lives today are busy, and it’s hard to sit down with one another and truly enjoy each other’s company without some type of distraction. Crafting allows you to be with the ones you love and create projects together. You can spend the time making crafts and talking about anything you want, such as their likes and dislikes and what they’ve been doing in school or with friends. Quality time is extremely beneficial to your relationship with your children, and it’s something that doesn’t come around very often, so you should make sure to use crafti

We re just saying, $300 for an 11
Interior Design Advice on Hanging Picture Frames Thanks to our friends at the PPFA for retweeting and designer Fred Gonsowski, we found a great guide to hanging picture frames! Not only were there plenty of written instructions, but illustrations to help explain the best practices. The first step in the process is to find the natural lines in your environment. How do the lines appear in your design space? Do they align well and lend themselves to aesthetics? If not, is there anything you can do to change the lines surrounding your frames? While not necessary. it will make your framing look much more professional. Photo credit by Fred Gonsowski. Vertically and horizantally aligning your frames. Once you ve found the lines, be sure to note the lines on illustration 4 through 6. The lines created by the frames should not be on the same architectural lines as the doors and windows rather, your installations and furniture should create the lines you ll be using for your framing. This narrow black picture frame has always been a favorite. Luckily, we have plenty of other great options! As part of our efforts to keep customers aware of our frame product line, we re going to be posting discontinued and brand-new products here as soon as we find out! Usually we love gushing about how beautiful and intricate our new frames are, but discontinued series are just as important if you re particularly fond of a frame. This time, our Tuxedo Narrow moulding has been discontinued by our vendors. One of our favorites, the Tuxedo Narrow is a black eco-friendly wood frame with a thin strip of shiny material along the inside that accents artwork with more of a focal point than your standard frame. Fortunately, our vendor still plans to keep Tuxedo Wide in stock, so if it s the look you re going for, be sure to check it out! If the series appeal is the narrow profile, however, we would recommend our Black series. The narrow profile on our Black series is also angled, giving it

Choosing office decor may not be as simple as you think interior decorating says volumes about your business. For those with a business that sees plenty of through-traffic such as hotels, restaurants, marketing firms, cafes or studios, art and interior design become a major selling point of what your business entails. Taking the hotel example, think of a time where you have maybe stayed in a nice resort, or maybe a refreshing getaway where the artwork matched the theme of the surrounding environments. Of course, the focus here is ambience and design over importance of display, but wall decor of your workplace will undoubtedly be noticed at some point by your guests and clientele. A design by Process5. This restaurant features interesting, but not distracting, artwork for guests to view while waiting for their meal. The large framed mirrors are meant to show off the food as art when brought to the table. See the full article here. So what sorts of wall art would fit your company the mo

For the month of May, we promote a charity that is very near and dear to us (much like our holiday Fill The Truck initiative.) May is Melanoma Awareness month melanoma being a deadly form of skin cancer. If caught early enough, treatment is relatively easy to manage and steps can be taken to prevent the cancer from spreading. Some patients diagnosed with melanoma aren t quite so lucky. Sometimes the cancer spreads to the lymph nodes and beyond. Among these cases was Andy Caress: athlete, friend, and a constantly motivational young man to all who knew him. Meet Andy Caress, a 22 year-old athlete whose life was taken by melanoma. His life goal was to raise awareness and fund research to battle the deadly cancer. Rather than focus on his bleak condition from the spread of melanoma, Andy created a foundation to raise awareness about this deadly form of skin cancer. The Andy Caress Melanoma Foundation isn t only about raising awareness, however. This foundation has raised thousands of doll

Framing can become a burden for both client and artist alike. Here are some ways you can save money AND your artist/client relationships. Framing can be a frustrating task for those trying to make a living on their art. Sometimes, even the responsibilities of framing are unclear. Do you leave framing up to the client, or take care of it yourself? From the other perspective, should you frame a piece of art you bought, or place that task on someone else? Cost is definitely the largest deterrent for artists the cost of just one framing job can be an unthinkable amount of money to spend up front. This is particularly true if your client is indecisive about framing, constantly asking for different frames for the piece. When time and money are factors, these questions can become a nightmare!
