When people talk about “clean energy,” they often mean wind or solar power, and when they’re discussing “energy efficiency" or "energy conservation,” they’re usually talking about doing things like remembering to turn off the lights.

But energy efficiency IS clean energy, just like solar and wind. It’s also cheaper than fossil fuels and doesn’t create pollution. It’s an energy resource that your local utility can help you create by taking simple steps that add up to defeating the behemoth of Dirty Power that’s overheating our planet and fouling our air and water.  It can also save us money on our utility bills!

How to Invest in Energy Efficiency to Combat Climate Change

How to Invest in Energy Efficiency to Combat Climate Change | Picto Communication Partner | Scoop.it

Energy efficiency is estimated to be a multi-hundred-billion dollar investment opportunity in the U.S., but better policies are required to unlock broad-based financing from institutional investors, who together manage approximately $70 trillion in assets globally. That is the key finding of Power Factor: Institutional Investors’ Policy Priorities Can Bring Energy Efficiency to Scale, a new report issued today by Ceres and its Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR). Investment analysts estimate that climate changecould contribute 10 percent of overall risk within institutional investment portfolios. Furthermore, the International Energy Agency estimates that one-third of emissions reductions must come fromenergy efficiency in order to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. Energy efficiency-related investments thus offer institutional investors an attractive opportunity to manage the risks of climate change while earning returns.
