Steroid use can be categorized under both professional and personal ethics as far as personal use and abiding to rules and regulations prohibiting it's use.

Jamison Fausett's curator insight, February 8, 2014 11:52 AM

While I strongly disagree with the use anabolic steroids, I think the way we look at steroids as a society could be adjusted. From my own research there is many positive benefits that could come from the use of Human Growth hormone.

As athletes become a prized investment, the scrutiny is high when making a medical decisions that regard the future well being of these athletes. Just because they can redefine the laws of physical performance, does not mean we shouldn't take into a higher consideration when letting them heal.

Alexander Ellis's curator insight, February 16, 2014 11:17 AM

Dr. James Andrews is known as the best orthopedic surgeon in sports and America.  He is also a physician for the Washington Redskins.  His career could have been in jeopardy if he had given RGIII the go-ahead to play when initial reports said he did after sustaining a nasty knee injury.  It is his duty to protect players from playing when they shouldn't be on the field.  He may be the best doctor, but he won't be if he ever loses his license...

Paul Larson's curator insight, April 24, 2014 7:17 PM

Not only do therapist's need to clear a player, but the player and coaches need to respect the injury for what it is. If a player competes on an injury that is not completely healed they are in such a great risk of causing more damage and even ruining their career.
