Situées au cœur de la "Vallée sacrée des Incas" à une quarantaine de kilomètres de Cuzco et à plus de 3000 mètres d’altitude, Les salines de Maras exploitent, depuis l’époque Pré-Inca, une source saturée en sel qui jaillit d’un puit appelé "Qoripujio". Elles sont constituées de près de 3000 bassins. la fleur de sel (couche de surface du dépôt), dépourvu d'algues et d'impuretés donne un sel d'un blanc. Après ajout d'iode, ce sel est destiné à la consommation alimentaire.

‘My ongoing project, When Morning Comes, explores daily life in the Mississippi Delta. In the summer of 2009 I began traveling the village streets and farm roads of the Delta on my bicycle. I needed to breathe after troubled times and the people that I met, the very landscape itself, became midwives, mythmakers, and prophets. I found strength and humility there that summer.
