Behind the Scenes of Glamorously Surreal Ice Cave Photos by Miss Aniela

Behind the Scenes of Glamorously Surreal Ice Cave Photos by Miss Aniela | ART | Conceptual Photography & Fine Art | Scoop.it
Just what goes into taking glamorously surreal photos? If you don't think there's that much planning that goes into taking a shot or two like this, you'd be absolutely wrong. Miss Aniela recently took a trip to Iceland to capture these images. She and her crew had to brave cold and icey conditions in order to get these spectacularly surreal shots. In her own words, here she is explaining the idea for the shoot, her set of challenges, and how she feels about the end result.

The Idea for the Shoot
"We first visited Iceland in April 2014 where we saw some amazing places. We run the Fashion Shoot Experience where a group of photographers from around the world join us on adventures, and this time it was an expedition in Iceland, traveling together in a big 'monster truck', staying at different hotels on a road trip around the southern part of Iceland, visiting black sands, waterfalls, landmarks and amazing scenery along with a crew of models and…

Unique Portraits Filled with Raw Emotion

Unique Portraits Filled with Raw Emotion | ART | Conceptual Photography & Fine Art | Scoop.it
18-year-old photographer Christian Benetel first became interested in photography at the young age of 14, when he noticed his sister posting her photos on Flickr. After seeing incredible photos of the people she followed, he was inspired to pick up his parent's digital camera to see what he could do. Fast forward four years later and Benetel is now part of an elite group of talented teenage photographers who have an obvious knack for visual storytelling.
While he cites Flickr photographers like Alex Stoddard and David Talley as sources of inspiration, Benetel has a style all his own. The way he captures feelings and emotions by his unique angle or composition, makes him one to watch.
"I think you can really capture raw emotion with portraits and it really allows you to create pictures that people can relate to, which is what I love doing with my photos," he tells us.
In one of my favorite shots, immediately below, he took a picture of a girl laying on the grass at a botanical garden.…

Adorable Dog Photography That Will Make You Happy by Alicja Zmyslowska

Adorable Dog Photography That Will Make You Happy by Alicja Zmyslowska | ART | Conceptual Photography & Fine Art | Scoop.it
Now hug! Three border collies are looking incredibly cute in this photo by Alicja Zmyslowka. The Poland-based photographer takes the most adorable pictures of dogs we've ever seen. Alicja had always been around photography, since her father and brother had taken photos as long as she could remember, but it wasn't until her own puppy (the golden retriever) finally came into her life, in 2006, that she found her true calling and inspiration.
The photographer has devoted her life to taking dog photos saying, "I would love to share my passion and love for dogs through my photography. I want to show what's best in each dog, I want to catch their souls. When I take pictures of homeless dogs, I want to help them find new and loving homes. And when I take pictures of people with their pet companions, I want them to have the perfect photos of their favorite moments spent with their four-legged friends."

For anyone who follows the work of young, talented photographers who belong to the Flickr community, Rosie Hardy is one name that comes up time and time again. Although only 23 years old, the Manchester, UK-based creative has been at the forefront of the movement of youthful, Flickr photographers who produce highly expressive images that venture into the surreal. With her captivating photos, Hardy has inspired the likes of Alex Stoddard and Phillip Schumacher. Since we last shared her work, the young photographer has enjoyed greater fame and recognition for her skill, even producing photos for big names like Maroon 5 and The 1975.
Looking at Hardy's stunning portfolio, it's not hard to understand her artistic success. Intimate Showers Reveal Secrets (10 photos)

Intimate Showers Reveal Secrets (10 photos) | ART | Conceptual Photography & Fine Art | Scoop.it
Mumbai, India-born photographer Manjari Sharma takes us into one of the most intimate places in a person's house. For a few months, she invited people over to her apartment, photographing them while they took a shower. She soon found out that the water washed away any unnerving awkwardness brought on by the camera.

What came next, however, was quite surprising. "The bathroom, formerly a beauty parlour, now became a confessional and I the hair dresser," she said. "Many of my subjects shared intimate details of their life with me and every new person in the shower became a brand new allegory. With every new visit I had a new protagonist; A new plot and a new parable of hurt and heroic that came undone under that shower - My Shower. I felt a personal mythology was being shared, an independent study that I got addicted to."

Manjari Sharma's work is currently showing at the Kopeikin Gallery in Los Angeles through February 12th, 2011. Manjari Sharma's website

Powerful Series Shows Foster Kids' Struggles from Darkest Points to Triumphant Moments

Powerful Series Shows Foster Kids' Struggles from Darkest Points to Triumphant Moments | ART | Conceptual Photography & Fine Art | Scoop.it
Oregon-based artist and photographer Rob Woodcox creates passionate work that blends his creativity with his own life experiences. As someone who was adopted as a young baby and rescued from abuse, Woodcox strives to raise awareness for others in need.
Stories Worth Telling is a powerful series of slightly surreal photographs that visually tells the stories of foster kids and also helps to raise funds so that the children can attend camp and participate in a year-round mentoring program. Woodcox says the purpose of the project is to "bring light to the need for foster parents, adoptions, and volunteer work relating to these children in need."
The incredibly powerful images of the young ones who are lost, tangled in branches, shattered in broken mirrors, or struggling through the world will touch your heart. (It's important to note that foster kids cannot be photographed, so Woodcox uses volunteers and models to stand in as his subjects.) Throughout the series, Woodcox depicts the…

Son’s Health Scare Sparks A New Passion For His Father

Son’s Health Scare Sparks A New Passion For His Father | ART | Conceptual Photography & Fine Art | Scoop.it
Following a health scare with his son, father makes it his mission to capture beautiful moments of his children's childhood through his lens.

Adrian Murray's beautiful portraits tell a story of childhood that all of us can relate to. His nostalgic point of view remind us of our own childhood and storybooks we read growing up.

Adrian and his wife, Michelle woke on morning to find their 10 month old son unresponsive in his crib. A nightmare for any parent to go through. Emerson was rushed to the hospital. Three days and several tests later, there were no answers, only for it to happen again days later. Emerson would be put on anti-seizure medication. With this unfortunate event, Adrian was reminded of how mortal we all are, including our children. Adrian felt compelled to record his family through photography.

Today Emerson is doing just fine and has even become an older brother. After a year of medication, new tests were done and he has recently been cleared from needing medication.

Inspiration can come from anywhere. Have a look at this amazing gallery Adrian has shared with us.
