This Week in Photography History: Eddie Adams’ Pulitzer Winning Image Was Captured

This Week in Photography History: Eddie Adams’ Pulitzer Winning Image Was Captured | Photography | Scoop.it

Eddie Adams (1933-2004) who documented thirteen wars, shot one of the most iconic, memorable and gritty images of the Vietnam War on February 1, 1968 which you see above.  This image is forever etched into the minds and history books of both past and future generations, to the effect that one simply cannot lookup information on the Vietnam War without coming across this photograph. This image won Adams a Pulitzer Prize in 1969 and despite the fact that he truly, desperately wanted to win a Pulitzer, he lamented the fact that he won for this image.

Photo Editing is No Substitute for Photography Technique

Photo Editing is No Substitute for Photography Technique | Photography | Scoop.it
Photography has entered a whole new world, with remarkable changes in technology in just a few short years. One thing has not changed, however; the camera – not the computer – is still the most important tool of a good photographer.

Nikon D600 Review - Impressions & Comparison Photos to D700 and D7000

Nikon D600 Review - Impressions & Comparison Photos to D700 and D7000 | Photography | Scoop.it

The Nikon D600 is the first “entry level” full frame DSLR. This D600 review offers real world comparison photos from Nikon D600 and D700 and D7000, the two cameras to which the Nikon D600 has been (sometimes pejoratively) compared. As I presently own all three cameras, I thought these controlled tests in addition to my commentary about the Nikon D600 after using a variety of Nikon cameras over the years, would provide readers with relevant information to make an informed decision as to whether the D600 would be a worthwhile upgrade from the D7000 or D700.

Why citizen photojournalism doesn’t matter

Why citizen photojournalism doesn’t matter | Photography | Scoop.it

The act of looking at a photograph is not passive. We look for familiar signals that we can quickly interpret as a message.

Amateurs use their cameras as a descriptive tool, making statements like “I was here” or “I had a beer with so and so” while professionals grab symbolic analogues of our sensory and emotional experiences to create a representation.
