Lookfilter.com - A starting point for creativity's insight:
Uncover a classic look hidden in your digital files

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get a feeling that I was born either way too late or far too soon. It’s hard to keep up with how fast everything moves today. Sometimes I think I should have got started with photography when the first generation of great Magnum photographers did.

When analog still ruled.

But film is expensive. And I’m too fidgety to load up a camera. Plus, time-travel isn’t an option yet. So I’m stuck in this intense, present moment. So to get anything close to what film used to look like, I have to fiddle with Photoshop.

The Best Landscape Photographer You've Never Heard Of | Fstoppers

The Best Landscape Photographer You've Never Heard Of | Fstoppers | Photography News Journal | Scoop.it
I adore a good landscape image. And it goes without saying that few things can take your breath away quite like an incredible image of mountains, valleys, spires, oceans, even castles and cities. After all, what is larger than life, or at least larger than us, can be far more awe inspiring than most portraits. However, the craft of landscape photography is hardly a matter of planning a vacation and bringing a tripod, which is about where my landscape "skills" end.

Lookfilter.com - A starting point for creativity's insight:

Susanna Majuri's underwater series is a collection of photographs that appear as though they've been painted. The female subjects of each image have a Renaissance feel to them, comparable to Millais' Ophelia.

Of her work, Majuri says, "We can be multiple. Touch your environment and it will show itself as fantastic. People are unpredictable. They are male and female at the same time. When I am shooting pictures, I have a premonition that something strange is about to happen."

The Silent Enigma : Francisco Reina

The Silent Enigma : Francisco Reina | Photography News Journal | Scoop.it
With this work we enter a scenario which shows a noticeable calm.
Silence surrounds everything and turns tranquillity into an apparent reality. Nothing is happening at first sight but we see a floating edifice where something could (or not) be taking place inside.
This edifice seems to be the hidden mystery of the scene, though it is merely the fortress hiding the enigma. Attention is focused on the interior of the house. Mystery lies where our eyes cannot see.

What’s hidden up there?, Maybe our fears?,The truth about our existence? The stairs give us the chance to go inside and discover the enigma. It might even let us know why it is floating. But at the same time, the stairs’ complete lack of earthly contact obstructs our way up.

This edifice is like a Pandora’s box for each of us. We need to know what is inside. But do we dare open it up and take the risk that our fears may rest inside? Or will we resign ourselves to the idea of not knowing the nature of the enigma? This work reflects on the problems that arise in the viewer when a certain perception of reality is formed as a result of more questions than answers coming out of what we see.

How I Upload My Photos to Facebook or The Photographer's Guide To Photo Formats For The Web | Fstoppers

How I Upload My Photos to Facebook or The Photographer's Guide To Photo Formats For The Web | Fstoppers | Photography News Journal | Scoop.it
If there is one thing I get asked, and that has been answered online time and again, it's "How do I get my photos to look like I want them to look on Facebook?" followed immediately by "Why does Facebook ruin my photos anyway?" and finally "I just want my photos to look awesome on Facebook." The bottom line is, Facebook does give us options, loopholes if you like, and we just need to adhere to them and our images will look stellar. But, what are these magical settings? I decided I was going to fuse my two careers together into one article, and explain it all as best I can.

Intuition - Photography by Carsten Witte

Intuition - Photography by Carsten Witte | Photography News Journal | Scoop.it
Image series about the intuition that everything must change.
Lookfilter.com - A starting point for creativity's insight:

Carsten Witte, born in 1964, is the venerable priest of beauty. Already as a little boy of three he slack-jadedly gazed after beauties that where passing by when he was walking at his mother’s hand. Many years later, after he had attended the Bielefeld school of photography, worked as assistant for renowned photographers and started his career as a freelancer with his own studio in 1989, he could finally dedicate himself exclusively to his perfect esthetics at taking shots of beautiful woman’s bodies, their eroticism and chasteness and the sensual play of shadow and light, whereas he has never betrayed the deference to the beautiful creature.

Numerous national and international fashion and lifestyle magazines engaged the master of modern form finding and even in the advertisement Witte distinguished himself with the subtle and extremely reduced structures in his images. “It’s always faces that fascinate me and this mysterious purity of really beautiful people“, he said.

LR/Enfuse - Blend Multiple Exposures Together in Adobe Lightroom

LR/Enfuse - Blend Multiple Exposures Together in Adobe Lightroom | Photography News Journal | Scoop.it

LR/Enfuse is a Lightroom plugin that allows you to blend multiple exposures together directly from within Lightroom by using the open source Enfuse application.

With LR/Enfuse you can:

  • Blend images of different exposures together in order to create a natural looking image with a greater dynamic range.
  • Blend a series of images where the focus point is difference in order to create an image with a greater depth of field - this is a common approach when creating a macro image.
  • Blend a series of images for night photography image stacking in order to create an image with a longer exposure than is possible with a single frame.

Images with long star trails require very long exposures, however the ambient light of a scene is often intense enough to limit the exposure to something much shorter. The sky and foreground thus often require two radically different exposures. The solution to this dilema is image stacking! Image staking allows you to take a lot of shorter exposures and combine them for a longer total exposure time with star trails.
