Fujifilm X-Pro1 interchangeable lens camera preview (video)

Fujifilm X-Pro1 interchangeable lens camera preview (video) | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

"The interchangeable lens camera market grew by one this week, following Fujifilm's confirmation of its new X-Pro1. The 16 megapixel APS-C ILC may be in fact be a mirrorless model, but company reps prefer that you don't use "the M-word," insisting that the shooter stands alone in its own category as a "premium" interchangeable lens camera. And after spending an hour with the oversized, solidly-built ILC and viewing a variety of comparison samples, it's not difficult to confirm that the assessment may not be far off. The entire hands-on experience was in line with that premium claim -- from the white gloves we were required to use when handling the camera to the Japanese design lead taking care to make sure sample models were clean of markings and positioned just right, it's clear that Fujifilm is taking this launch very seriously, and you should, too. Join us past the break for an early CES look at what may very well be the sharpest mirrorless interchangeable lens camera to date."

Fujifilm X-Pro1 Preview - Digital Photography Review

Fujifilm X-Pro1 Preview - Digital Photography Review | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

"Our preview of the Fujifilm X-Pro1 and Fujifilm's X system lenses. The X-Pro1 is, in many respects, the camera that many people hoped the X100 was foreshadowing: interchangeable lenses and a cutting-edge sensor combined in a classically-styled body and retaining the excellent hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder. We've had a chance to get our hands on the X-Pro 1 and the 18mm F2, 35mm F1.4 and 60mm F2.4 primes that are being launched alongside it, to get to really make sense of the camera, its capabilities and that unusual color-filter array.

The X-Pro1's price will be around $1700, with lenses in the $650 region. The company says it will release 9 lenses for the X-mount over then next three years, including zooms, as well as prime lenses. The widest currently planned lens is a 14mm (21mm equivalent), and there will be mount adapters, with the Leica M-mount being the first to become available."

And there is are many new Full Size X PRo 1 image samples at http://www.pbase.com/hpicckcy/fujifilm_xpro1 (via Fujirumors.com). They have been posted by Hugo Poon which says: “I’m not a reviewer and this is no review. Have to be frank, I never have the time (nor interest) to do detailed tests and comparison. My only interest in an equipment is how well it can help me capture the moment and document the familiar places that are fast changing and even disappearing… Though I had had only a couple of days to shoot with this new gear, I couldn’t be more convinced that this is Fuji’s one most powerful photo taking machine to date.

First full-res Fujifilm X-Pro1 images appear on the web

First full-res Fujifilm X-Pro1 images appear on the web | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

"Four full-size images from the Fujifilm X-Pro1 have been released by the two photographers commissioned to shoot with the camera (apparently using a pre-production unit). Australian photojournalist Michael Coyne and landscape photographer Christian Fletcher are shooting with the camera and have published four images taken with the 18mm lens, alongside a video explaining their first impressions. All the images, shot at a range of ISO settings, have been passed through Photoshop, according to the EXIF, but are said to be unprocessed."

Note: Pictures have been removed from Christian Fletcher's website due to the massive amount of traffic received by his server. There is still an interesting video behind the link...

Fujifilm: more X-mount cameras and X10 firmware on their way

Fujifilm: more X-mount cameras and X10 firmware on their way | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

"CES 2012: Fujifilm has confirmed in a discussion with dpreview, more details about its plans for the X-system. It also said a firmware update for the X10 aimed at reducing the 'white-orb' problem is due in early February, if not before. The firmware update, that addresses the hard-edged white discs or orbs generated when highlight regions clip, will reduce but not completely remove the effect. Meanwhile, the company hinted the X-Pro1 will be accompanied by at least one less expensive model..."

Fuji X-Pro1 Launch

Fuji X-Pro1 Launch | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

"Some companies plod along, slowly incrementing the marketing bullet points with new models. These are usually the ones that have turf to protect and market share to hold onto. Other companies, hungry for position, and without entrenched products to protect are more willing to innovate and take risks.

Fuji is in the latter camp. When Nikon stopped supplying Fuji with DSLR bodies several year ago it looked like they might abandon the high-end market. But, the digicam market is vaporizing because of smartphones, so where to go? The enthusiast market is what Fuji has decided to pursue, and 2011 saw the first salvo in its attack on this segment, the very highly regarded X100.

New Fuji has followed up with the very desirable X-Pro1, the first in what is likely to be a series of interchangeable lens rangefinder-style large sensor cameras. Here are the main points about the X-Pro1..."
