Pula - Sveta Katarina (Pulski zaljev) | Croatia  | St. Catherine (Pula Bay)

_______________________________________

St. Catherine's (Italian Scoglio Santa Catarina) is an island located in the bay of Pula. Administratively belongs to the local committee Štinjan.

Holy Island. Catherine the islands of St. Andrew and Uljanik Pula bay is divided into two smaller pools. It is connected by bridge to the peninsula Monumenti.

Italian Renaissance geographer, physician and writer Giuseppe Rosaccio izolaru in his "Viaggio to Venetia and Costantinopoli" mentioned in the islands of the Bay of Pula. Explicitly states that in the harbor, there are 6 islands without mentioning their names. Although this number is questionable, because the second most frequently mentioned sources of four islands, Rosaccio certainly speaks of Sv. (Andrew Scoglio Santo Andrea), and today's peninsulas - Uljanik (Scoglio Olivi), Sv. Catherine (Scoglio Santa Catarina), Sv. Peter (San Pietro Scoglio) and Sv. John.

St. Catherine was an integral part of the barracks, "Monument". During Yugoslavia, the island was visited JRM which raised a couple of buildings that have housed a variety of school and diving facilities. On the island there is a naval infantry brigade headquarters which is majority was located in buildings on the other side of the bridge - the mainland part of the complex. The island itself is located mixed division amphibious ships, divers, and other auxiliaries.

Sveta Katarina (tal.

Otok Sv. Katarina uz otoke Sveti Andrija i Uljanik dijeli pulski zaljev u dva manja bazena.

Katarini (Scoglio Santa Catarina), Sv. Petru (Scoglio San Pietro) i Sv. Ivanu.

The Sacre Coeur Basilica is the monstrous emblem of hilly Montmartre, crowning the "butte Montmartre" or top of the hill, from which you can enjoy sweeping vantages of Paris on a clear day. The basilica, which wasn't completed until 1914 and took over 30 years to build, was a powerful symbol of the monarchy and Catholic Church re-asserting its power after the uprising known as the Paris Commune between 1870-1871.

''You may have heard of a museum called Le Louvre. Before you attempt to visit it, go through some tour de france training to build up your stamina. This is a museum big enough to take your whole summer to walk through, and that's without even stopping to look at any of the art.''
