Journey to Jolo, Sulu (Part 1 of 3)

Journey to Jolo, Sulu (Part 1 of 3) | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it
There is no better time for this story to be published. As the President of the Philippines and MILF Chair signed together the Bangsamoro Framework agreement and shake each other's hand to signify the start of peace among brothers and sister, I write about my experiences while I was journeying through the Sulu Archipelago, particularly in Jolo. What we may now call, a part of Bangsamoro territory..

EDMARATION #TownExplorer: San Quintin, Abra | Raw Natural Wonder with Real Sense of Freedom | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it
As I look at the man riding on a rake, I have realized how we make our lives complicated when we can make it simple. But that would be another story. I have to say, this man should consider himself lucky.

The Tawi-tawi Alternate Reality |

The Tawi-tawi Alternate Reality | | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

Like a lover chasing for her last chance at love I chased my plane like a madman dashing through airport and zipping past the security officers but to no avail. I heard those words as a broke traveling student who was 781 miles away from home.

Nomadic Experiences: Dante Varona Unchained at San Juanico Bridge

Nomadic Experiences: Dante Varona Unchained at San Juanico Bridge | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

On my trip to Tacloban a few months ago, I made sure to walk through the entire 1.34 mile length of San Juanico Bridge. It's not a very long distance for walking, so my pace was brisk and calculating, giving me enough time to enjoy the view and feel the tremors after each speeding bus and vans passes by.

The Dark Side of Bohol’s Bilar Manmade Forest + An Appeal to People Planting Trees

The Dark Side of Bohol’s Bilar Manmade Forest + An Appeal to People Planting Trees | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

“Didn’t you notice there are no birds?” she told me. “It’s so pretty but it’s a silent and dead forest.”was quiet, very quiet. All around me dark mahogany trees rose to the sky.  I basked in the silence as I walked around and admired thick trunks and roots flowing like tiny rivers. The occasional ...

Sarangani may not be top of mind when you think of the word vacation. If riding the rapids doesn't appeal to you, visit the Maitum Municipal Hall instead to see the replicas of Maitum anthropomorphic jars, which date back to the Metal Age. In 1991

A Pagudpud Home(stay) Away From Home | The Little Girl Goes Places | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

After hours (or days?) of searching online, jotting down notes, texting and calling owners and reading tons of reviews and blogs online, I finally found the perfect accommodation for us. And in line with this being a trip of many firsts, where we stayed in Saud beach was no exception.

Pinay Travelista: MARAWI CITY | Maranao Culture Educated at Aga Khan Museum

Pinay Travelista: MARAWI CITY | Maranao Culture Educated at Aga Khan Museum | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

Here are people of different culture, speaking in a foreign-like dialect to my ears, but they once fought the same colonizers my ancestors have fought to hold on to a land that has always been theirs. The painting is not as vivid and colorful as the Maranao culture --- that it is.

Pinay Travelista: MARAWI CITY | Kilometer Zero of Mindanao | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

I've always had this fascination of the road markers that indicates kilometers to or from the center of the place of which I am traveling to or from. Hailing from one of the largest islands of the Philippines --- Mindanao, I've been itching to visit this landmark which I've missed during my previous visit in Marawi City.

Day 9: A Walk to Remember on the Old Streets of Iloilo City | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it
I had a very simple Day 9; I just wanted to observe the people in what others call “The City of Love,” that until now I do not know why this city is called that way. Is it because of Ilonggo’s sweet charm?
