There are at least 94 recorded lakes in the Philippines. Although I'm a beach person I find lakes very scenic and serene. I am sure that most of my readers here have seen one or even more.

A week before the historic signing of a peace pact that aims to end decades-old conflict in Mindanano, I found myself in Lamitan, Basilan in the house of a Princess. Journey to Jolo, Sulu (Part 1 of 3) | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it
There is no better time for this story to be published. As the President of the Philippines and MILF Chair signed together the Bangsamoro Framework agreement and shake each other's hand to signify the start of peace among brothers and sister, I write about my experiences while I was journeying through the Sulu Archipelago, particularly in Jolo. Nomadic Experiences: Dante Varona Unchained at San Juanico Bridge

Nomadic Experiences: Dante Varona Unchained at San Juanico Bridge | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

On my trip to Tacloban a few months ago, I made sure to walk through the entire 1.34 mile length of San Juanico Bridge. It's not a very long distance for walking, so my pace was brisk and calculating, giving me enough time to enjoy the view and feel the tremors after each speeding bus and vans passes by.

The Dark Side of Bohol’s Bilar Manmade Forest + An Appeal to People Planting Trees | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

Pinay Travelista: MARAWI CITY | Maranao Culture Educated at Aga Khan Museum | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

Here are people of different culture, speaking in a foreign-like dialect to my ears, but they once fought the same colonizers my ancestors have fought to hold on to a land that has always been theirs. The painting is not as vivid and colorful as the Maranao culture --- that it is.
