OHS_Thaisa_Dinamling's curator insight, March 17, 6:54 AM

In five years’ time, I would like to go back in my home country and do some road trips with my family. I am surprised to find a blogged about my birthplace. I have seen all of them but I haven’t been home since I came here to Australia, I can see that they changed some of it but the traditions and cultures are still preserved. It would be awesome and nice to visit the places featured above again. Of course, when doing road trips, safety is the number one priorities above all. I don't want to meet accidents while on the road, I have watched and read some articles about many tragedies on the road reports and they are not good. #OHS #RoadTrips #InFiveYearsTime

10 places to visit in and around Bangued, Abra - langyaw | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it
Abra is an enigma. For me at least. It’s ruggedness and mystery is something that an adventurer should discover. This province is just so promising that there are so many opportunities for discovery. But if you’re not so much into roughing it up, the municipalities of Bangued, Tayum, Pidigan and …

The Slums of Manila, Philippines

The Slums of Manila, Philippines   | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it
The hidden side of the City of Manila
Dave Gatenby's insight:

No better quote can describe this experience than these sentences from the post .........
"As we left the slums and got back into the heavy traffic of Manila i no longer felt vulnerable. I looked at the streets in a different way. Now i didn’t see beggars or homeless people i saw hard workers and courageous parents. I wasn’t scared anymore, i felt calm inside and actually not shaken up or nervous but in awe of peoples determination to live and their ability to smile."

Backpacking Pilipinas: Calaguas: My Best Beach Experience Ever

Backpacking Pilipinas: Calaguas: My Best Beach Experience Ever | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

I wish not to see Calaguas suffering the same fate as those of other major destinations in this country. I don't want it to succumb to the perils of heavy influx of tourists: too much commercialism, over-development, noise and littering. I don't want it to be just like another Boracay, another Puerto Galera, another Anawangin.

PinoyMountaineer picks: Best hikes for beginners near Manila ~ Pinoy Mountaineer

PinoyMountaineer picks: Best hikes for beginners near Manila ~ Pinoy Mountaineer | Philippine Travel | Scoop.it

Even though these mountains are relatively 'easy' and can be done by beginners, they should never be underestimated. Always be sure to orient first timers about the basic principles in mountaineering. Importantly, they should be told not to leave their trash behind. Before doing the hike make sure they have all the necessary gear, enough food and water, and even if it's a dayhike, make sure they have headlamps.
