Dreamers have been mocked, jeered, laughed at and generally thought of as morons since we human beings first had the capacity to communicate with each other. Well, let me be clear, dreamers are laughed at until they do the unthinkable; they succeed. If you think about it logically, it is easier to laugh at others when thier capacity to dream and see the future with clarity highlights our inability to see the next thirty seconds. Let's be honest, dreamers terrify us all. Why do they terrify us? We all are dreamers. We are all secretly harbouring dreams of, wealth, love, happiness, beauty, stardom, sexual prowess etc., etc., etc. I think, in my humble opinion, we fear dreamers because they lay bare our own phobia, no, obsession with what we refer to as failure. No dreams, no disappointments, and no disappointment, means you can't fail. I say, start admiting to your dreams, then maybe you will find the courage to live them, and have less time to laugh at others.
A "Succubus" is a term I first heard in horror movies and slasher films. In essence, a "Succubus" is a person normally a woman (so sexiest) who consumes your life force as you sleep or while having sex with you. Now although that would be an "interesting" way to go, (coming and going at the same time), I for one found the very notion of a "Succubus" silly. Well, silly until I realized I had met persons like that more often than I cared to remember. You see a "Succubus" in the real world is a "Dream stealer". A person who takes pleasure in crushing your personal aspirations or ambitions. That person who either subtle or bluntly attemps to derail your dreams of success and accomplishment. Like the mythical "Succubus" they often appear to be assisting or supportive. In an earlier conversation with a dear friend, I defined friendship "as that person who constantly encourages your dreams". Whose support is unconditional and who would always speak to and listen to you from a place of love support and understanding. Let us free ourselves. Recognize the "Succubus" if any, in our lives and remember. "Let no one, steal your dreams". - Peter Lloyd :)
Big man, tell me how you sleep last night, knowing you touch your daughter where it was not right. (You got blood on your hands) Tell me how you feel no pain, when you supply the guns that are killing in vain. (You got blood on your hands) Leader in society, you sanction the killers then you set them free. (You got blood on your hands)

You tell the people vote for you. The lies that you tell them they may come true. (You got blood on your hands) How can you hear the screams? Your victims must haunt all your dreams. (You got blood on your hands) Dem say, set the captives free. Innocent a jail and all mental slavery. (You got blood on your hands)

I have always been proud of having an analogue mind in this fast paced digital world. While I embrace the digital revolution I have often longed for the romantic age of "doing it right the very first time ". Idealistic as it may seem in the preceding age of the analogue there was a sense of urgency born, not out of the fast pace of the world around us, but driven by the literal fact that, if it had to be corrected, that correction was often very costly or impossible. Now don't get me wrong. The digital age has created so many conveniences, that it would be foolish to challenging it's importance. However, I suspect fusing that do or die mentality of the analogue mind, with the we can fix it programming of the digital realm could further improve this new and brave world. Wisdom, however old should never be ignored.
This morning I woke up complaining about how hot and how humid it was here in beautiful Jamaica. Talking with a friend in Germany, she immediately stated her enviousness regarding my complaint. Now, we all are guilty of taking the positives in our circumstance for granted. I suspect it is human nature to start thinking of these positives, luxuries, and comforts as “what we deserve “. Truth is we are programmed to think we DO deserve these luxuries. This, however is a topic for another day. I have started to constantly remind myself that for me to enjoy my life in a real way; I need to start appreciating every aspect of my life. I am attempting to live every experience to the maximum. Now, I admit that this is not easy, however, let’s agree that just waking up every morning is a luxury in itself. So today, let you and I start this journey of appreciation of the positives in our lives together.
