the Nuevo Sol is Peru's currency. However, almost everywhere in Lima the US Dollar is accepted

The nuevo sol (, (new sun). Currency sign: S/.) is the currency of Peru. It is subdivided into 100 cents, called céntimos in Spanish. The ISO 4217 currency code is PEN. It is most commonly referred to just as sol.

Country name and capital

Lima, Peru.

Lima is known as the city of kings. Located on the central coast of Peru, the city is only about eight miles from the sea. Lima now is a city populated with people of many nations and ethnic backgrounds. The population is swollen with people leaving the mountains, sierra, and the amazon rain forest, selva, areas looking for a better life in the capital.Lima in colonial days was the center of a vast viceroyalty that extended from present day Ecuador to central Chile.

Comparison- Peru is slightly smaller than Alaska.

Climate- varies from tropical in east to dry desert in west, temperate to frigid in andes

Terrain- western coastal plain (costa), high and rugged Andes in center (sierra), eastern lowland jungle of Amazon Basin (selva)

Elevation Extremes-lowest point: Pacific Ocean 0 m, highest point: Nevado Huascaran 6,768 m
