Tobacco advertising has got to be one of the most morally questionable industries out there. It seems these advertisers would stop at nothing to exploit
Sean Wheeler's insight:

No one advertised the way cigarette manufacturers used to.  Check out some of these old ads, and notice the way the marketers use appealing visuals and clever persuasive tools to entice the reader to buy their product!

Wow! These advertisements just go to show how to the extreme the advertisers would go to publicize their product and persuade the buyers. The "Happy Birthday Dad" poster is unreal!

When I think of propaganda I think of WWII as the propaganda was so prevalent then. But reading more about the language of persuasion it is obvious that propaganda still exists just in different forms today. If anything propaganda is more deceptive than ever before, in my opinion.

As I was reading through the site I started thinking of all the companies and commercials. Talk about being brain washed. One of the first things I thought of for a neat assignment was creating their own live or recorded commercials for a product or concept. It would be kind of fun and would need a lot of research on why they would use certain types of persuasion techniques.
