Personalize promotional "batch and blast" emails for the best results. And be strict about what constitutes "Personalized"...the term has a tendency to get whitewashed by those who are only capable of segmentation.  Triggers, while producing great results, only touch a very limited audience and leave out the vast majority of the revenue producing customers.  Every customer is expecting a higher degree of personal relevance in line with their specific tastes and behaviors.
