Kathleen McClaskey's insight:

Be inspired by Fred Bramante who leads the fight to move to a competency-based system. In a recent TedTalk, he demonstrates the passion he has for competency-based learning and extended learning opportunities (ELO's). He wants every learner to find their passion and have a mentor that can help them realize their hopes and dreams.

When asked what personally drives him to want to change education as we know it, he shares a personal experience that may can identify with: "School taught me that I wasn't very bright. Life taught me that school was wrong."

As a co-author of "Off the Clock" with Rose Colby, he believes that "a good competency-based system will make a difference for all learners because they will be learning what they love instead of trying to jump through traditional school hoops."
