Take care not only of the laggard, the best needs you, too...:-))) it might help in retaining them, too...

 

1. Help them progress 

2. Hone their leadership skills (start challenging them with an increasing number of leadership responsibilities)

3. Give them new challenges

4. Don't let them off the hook

What makes you who you are as a person? You probably have some idea of your own personality type — are you bubbly or reserved, sensitive or thick-skinned? Psychologists who try to tease out the science of who we are define personality as individual differences in the way people tend to think, feel and behave.

 

There are many ways to measure personality, but psychologists have mostly given up on trying to divide humanity neatly into types. Instead, they focus on personality traits.

Quick overview of the OCEAN traits. The study says disagreeable men earn higher salaries...hum, maybe other factors influence this and not just personality traits.

Hire competent, but don't be fooled.  I encourage new supervisors who are interviewing people to remember a simple acronym to help them find the best match: PAE – Personality, Aptitude & Experience.  Too often new supervisors make hires based primarily on the candidate’s experience.   Hiring a skilled candidate whose personality is the best fit for the team will result in a better choice than ability and experience alone.
