Has Genetically Engineered Food Made Us the United States of Allergies?

Has Genetically Engineered Food Made Us the United States of Allergies? | Personal Wellness | Scoop.it

A food awakening is happening around the country, and we are quickly learning that our food supply contains a lot of ingredients that simply did not exist when we were kids.  From artificial colors created in a laboratory to genetically engineered foods now regulated by the EPA as pesticides, we are finding our food supply increasingly hopped up on new ingredients.  And if the market is any indication, consumers don’t really want it this way.

Acai Berry - Superfoods and Miracle Foods - Oprah.com | Personal Wellness | Scoop.it

"The same key nutrients that give high-priced health foods their disease-fighting powers can be found in more common fruits and veggies. Here's where to look."

Acai berries are popularly know for their super nutrient, anthocyanins, which scientists believe can inhibit cancer cell growth and reduce the risk of heart disease. But acai berries are not the only food with this antioxidant. There are many other (less expensive) fruits with anthocyanins including cherries, blueberries and grapes. Almost all red, blue and purple fruits and veggies contain this super nutrient so why break the bank by buying acai berries?

Check out this article from Orpah.come for great tips on how to avoid over spending and being tricked by food marketing.

Plyometrics - Part I - What It Is and What It's Not. #Fitness #Strength | Personal Wellness | Scoop.it

Excerpt:

"As a performance enhancement consultant, it has been my experience that "plyometric" training is one of the most requested forms of training by athletes. All have heard the stories of great power development accredited to this method of training. To add to the mystery, plyometrics originated as a training method in the secretive eastern block countries where it was referred to as "jump training". As the eastern block countries rose to become powerhouses in sports, plyometric training was credited for much of their success. In the 1920s, the sport of track and field was the first to employ a systematic method of using plyometric-training methods. By the 1970s this methods of power development was being used by other sports that required explosive power for successful competition."

#causesofstress #reducestresswithahealthydiet #holisticstressprevention  Stress is a reaction we all experience on a daily basis.   There are a number of causes of stress that include our diet.    The foods we eat could be adding to our stress levels.     Combating stress could be as easy as eating a piece of fruit instead of a piece of pizza.

Reduce stress with a healthy diet.   Eat less refined sugars and processed foods can not only make you healthier but less stressed as well.   Holistic stress prevention advice also suggests to stay away from "factory farmed" eggs and dairy.   Most of the time these food sources are heavily processed with hormones and antibiotics which is not good for stress nor your health.   In the end stick to an organic, GMO free diet and your stress will melt away as quickly as your waist line.
