Social Media & The Law – 11 Things You Need to Know Now | SEO Specialist | Scoop.it
At TopRank Online Marketing, our Monday mornings are usually filled with lots and lots of coffee, the clicking and clacking of keyboards being furiously typed

Via Bonnie Burns
Al Gregorios's insight:

Great tips from top rank blog they really outline some great points about social media. Now most people are going social and it's one of the most effective marketing strategy that most companies do to increase brand awarenes and sales.

So now are you doing the right social media marketing efforts? Does it drives sales to your business? If not, you probably doing something wrong. I suggest you read this blog and see which of the things you're wrong.

I really encourage companies to push more effort on social since Google just sent out another update that focuses on long tail keywords and lower the valueof generic keywords. Social media marketing will help you target those longtails since the majority of traffic today are viraly increasing on social media platforms.

Just a little tip from me your SEO Specialist Al Gregorios.

It is important to know the laws when it comes to social media and the internet as it is still relatively new and so we need to be informed about what we can and can't do. It is also important to know these things as most people have not realised the implications of online plagarism and insults towards others. All users of social media and the internet should read this article. - Sara

AJ Kohn shares keys to content and SEO strategy
Technorati
He's been the owner of Blind Five Year Old, he writes for MarketingLand, SearchEngineLand, Moz and speaks all over the world on his search engine strategies and tactics.
Al Gregorios's insight:

I agree with AJ Kohn, like I said in this post http://algregorios.wordpress.com/2013/09/02/define-the-constant-in-googles-serps-algorithm-equations/ CONTENT is one of the constants of Google's Algorithm that haven't change since SEO existed. The thought of my post and AJ's are somehow similar to each other.

So I encourage all newbies and expert in SEO, SMM, SEM and also business owners to invest more in producing unique and valuable content instead of buying tools to make your lives easier. For me SEO is a broad industry that relates to all industry so it's not easy to compete. However my secret in order to compete and dominate is very simple and you probably doing it already. Focus on producing quality/valuable/unique content, build hard to get links using it and strong on-page optimization. (if it's not working for you I think you're doing something wrong, your effort/budget is not enough or your site sucks or your product sucks or your price is to expensive or your over optimizing on-site and off-site)

This is just my opinion based on my experiences so if disagree with me feel free to comment something below. I'm very open to hear some of your thoughts and willing to answer some of your questions.

Pinterest Is Becoming a Powerful E-Commerce Engine | Social Media Today

Pinterest Is Becoming a Powerful E-Commerce Engine | Social Media Today | SEO Specialist | Scoop.it

When the social network of Pinterest first started in March of 2010, people loved it as a visual place to create their holiday “wish-list” boards. They would create boards of stuff they liked online and would never know where it would lead to.Well, these wish-lists are now becoming a true reality, as Pinterest is becoming both a true e-commerce and brick-n-mortar player!

Back in May, the photo-sharing network began allowing “rich pins”, which allows users to post detailed information about an item, such as the originating image site and product purchase information. Now they are taking it one step further by providing price drop summarized email notifications to its users for photos they pinned.

That can be huge for e-commerce, as Pinterest users spend on average of 14 minutes a session on the social network, an eternity in cyber-space!But, not only is Pinterest leading people to a business website for e-commerce purposes but according to recent data distributed by the Vision Council and Harvard Business Review, 21% of Pinterest users had bought an item in an actual store after pinning, repining or liking the item on Pinterest....

Via Jeff Domansky
Al Gregorios's insight:

I remember when pinterest is just starting up. Most of the user would just pin random stuff and ofcourse their personal links without and good graphics or images in the post. Then you can see random un-organized boards as a result of manipulative link building (they say) without any purpose at all. Now online stores have seen the power of pinterest and the ability to organized their product images along with products description and URL, and they have used it for Marketing Purposes. Hope this post will teach other SEO Specialist how to use pinterest the right way.

"21% of Pinterest users had bought an item in an actual store after pinning, repining or liking the item on Pinterest" or the importance of Pinterest for e-commerce websites.

Jeff Domansky's curator insight, August 20, 2013 10:13 AM

Pinterest is delivering buyers. Marketers take note.

Cate Ferguson's curator insight, August 21, 2013 1:14 AM

The minute I looked at Pinterest I knew it would be for me.  As a user.  As a marketing tool, that's been a little slower in the making.  This is an interesting piece so do enjoy.  I think a carefully crafted campaign to make use of the goodwill on the channel, giving lots of value and carefully crafted links etc. could in the right hands create a nice little thread to follow.

Have you thought of using Pinterest this way?
