United we stand - Why the school is your secret weapon in classroom management...or it should be. - Resources - TES | Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it

UNITED WE STAND...Often, when I’m coaching new teachers with behaviour management, a lot of their problems can be boiled down to their mistaken belief that they should be able to handle all the crowd control by themselves. Nothing could be further from the truth. The school is an institution, and institutions are sustained by collaboration. Just ask the Roman Empire when they were straddling every known continent; or ask them again when they were on their collective ass. Teaching is one of the loneliest jobs in the world, which is odd when you stop to think about it, because the moments that you’re not surrounded by children or grimacing adults can be collected together over a week and still be ten minutes short of a heart beat.

10 Tech Tools for Teacher Training Courses

10 Tech Tools for Teacher Training Courses | Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it

I hope you have found something interesting here and this article makes you think a little more about how you deliver teacher training in general as the use of these tools isn't just restricted to tech training. They could be integrated into the delivery of any language or teacher training course and to some extent I feel that until tech tools are integrated into mainstream teacher training we aren't going to get the quality and quantity of digitally literate teachers that we need to really provide a 21st century learning environment for our students.

7 Ways To Create A Professional Twitter Presence

7 Ways To Create A Professional Twitter Presence | Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it

Before you go changing anything around on your twitter profile to make it more professional you must decide what the purpose of the account is.

Is your purpose to connect with friends and family?
Is your purpose to share important updates to customers of your store or online business?
Is your purpose to attract potential clients and to give them an understanding of why they should choose your product or service?

If your purpose is only to connect with friends and family then you don’t really need to have a professional presence in my opinion.

But if your purpose is business related then the following steps will help you create a professional presence on twitter.

Sometimes people will have a personal and a business-related purpose for using twitter. In those cases I recommend having a personal twitter account and a separate business related account on twitter.

The A-Z Dictionary of Educational Twitter Hashtags - Edudemic

The A-Z Dictionary of Educational Twitter Hashtags - Edudemic | Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it

The A-Z Dictionary of Educational Twitter Hashtags:

First, What’s A Hashtag?

The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keyword or topic in a Tweet. Any Twitter user can categorize or follow topics with hashtags. Those hashtags (usually) mean something and are a great way to get a tweet to appear in search results or discussion monitoring.

For example, the popular #edchat hashtag is used by thousands of users every Tuesday. It makes it easy (sort of) for people to monitor what’s happening in the conversation rather than having to try and guess what topics you should search for. By having a conversation on Twitter using hashtags, you also make it easy for any other Twitter user to join in.

It is never too early to educate our kids about the dangers of cyberspace. Here are 32 places you can use.
