This is a post by someone who struggles with the difference between an imposed professional learning community and an optional personal learning network. She notices that, however much sense the community may make, she and her colleagues are wont to participate in it, not so however with the learning network. How come? Lorraine offers the ability to choose, the imposed versus the optional character as the explanation.
This post is interesting, first because it illustrates what we already know since Dewey and perhaps even longer, that learner autonomy matters. It is also interesting because Lorraine nor the people who react to her blog seem to be aware of this fundamental tenet of modern pedagogy. It thus illustrates a short-coming of social learning: if nobody knows the pertinent literature, you simply miss out on it. And finally, because this neatly illustrates the predicament of how to structure learning without imposing or how to give people autonomy without just letting them figure out themselves (@pbsloep)

Fully support the importance of choice and the critical component that we often forget ... 'prior knowledge' that leads to understanding of a discussion topic. Something else to consider: if a group of colleagues day to day work experiences have been in the same place doing the same things with the same people ... 'it' is normal. Often, it's not until they join discussions outside of their 'normal' that they grow. Community and network are both important. @principaldd

Algunos de ellos son bastante evidentes en cuanto se da uno una vuelta por las opciones de Youtube, pero otros no lo son tanto y se trata de trucos bastante útiles para facilitar el uso en el aula. Delete the scoop?

A great way to get into using ebooks is to start with some of the free varieties. Ebook readers offer all kinds of accessibility benefits - as well as barriers - and trialling with free books is a good way to experiment with what works for you or your learners.

Interesting perspective and well worth reflection. The balance of the human need to learn and grow and the ego of 'this is my writing' leads to an interesting tension. Delete the scoop?
