Teaching resources from PBS based on THE NEW HEROES series with a wealth of information regarding organisations and individuals making a global difference. These resources can be used for teaching Personal Learning Classes in Years 9 and 10.
The Business of Doing Good offers students the opportunity to learn about global economics and society. There is a unit overview with activities listed. There are also links to video resources and other materials.

There are links to the New Heroes on the web. Students could also learn about organisations that specialise in providing direct support to social entrepreneurs. Or students could find out about organisations which offer research tools and support innovative social organisations. There are also resources for researching social change organisations in the general community and links to research organisations based in universities.
This unit uses 3 video stories in the "Technology of Freedom" episode of THE NEW HEROES and it introduces students to the big important questions such as "What does the 'future mean' in different parts of the world?" There are links to activities, materials including videos and other resource links from the web. There are also suggested assessment activities and extension activities.
This lesson offers students the opportunity to explore INNOVATIONS around them and what it means to create an innovation to improve and better our world. There are suggested discussion questions and links to other resources and examples.
Students have the opportunity to learn about some of the people who represent the greatest agents for change and demonstrate visionary leadership. In this unit they learn how visionary individuals approach life and make a difference and create profiles of people who do so. There are links to resources and examples. The quiz offers students an opportunity to imagine what their lives might be like in different careers and a chance to reflect on their own interests and goals and ways that they can contribute positively. There are suggested activities and a list of key concepts and vocabulary.
