You may access the information from this link or go directly to Digital Learning Now and access all the materials in this series to date at http://www.digitallearningnow.com/dln-smart-series/.

Instead of integrating technology into education in a structured way that enhances learning and consolidates the insights students garner in class, technology is often being used for the sake of using it or at the most for carrying out traditional taks in a techy way.

Record 15 seconds of video, clip by clip.

Edit out and the clips you don’t want or re-record them.

Choose from 13 new visual filters exclusively to video.

Anti-shake function that stabilizes mobile video called “cinema.”

Select a cover frame for your video thumbnail from the clip.

Level343's curator insight, June 21, 2013 1:39 PM

Communities aren’t products or part of the product. They are amalgamations of people who interact with each other in a certain context and a known set of norms and values. Communities are the lifeblood of social networks. Everything else is just infrastructure - an empty city.

Communities often have very strong culture and values. Reddit encourages a subversive culture. Hacker News champions contentious debate. Tumblr and Instagram fetishize aesthetics. Quibb’s community strives for knowledge.

Fostering communities requires the right chemistry. Mixing the user growth, content moderation, and set of values/norms, to create the substrate for a vibrant city is a constant battle.

Utopian-Dreams Band @ SoundCloud

Utopian-Dreams Band is riding the latest worldwide contemporary jazz wave with their nu-groove sensibilities.

This incredible crew of musical artists has been shaped by the San Francisco Bay Area and New York "live jazz" music scene over several decades. They credit their jazz evolution with nods to old school West Coast jazz, early 70’s Bay Area fusion, NY nu-groove and the contemporary jazz explosion. Their music is shaped by deeply orchestrated melodic chops expertly layered over the funk, hip hop, soul and Latin grooves of contemporary jazz. "From Dreams to You" is their debut EP featuring:

GMichael Merrifield - bassist, rhodes piano and executive producer
Patricia Britton - keyboard synthesizers, orchestrations and co-producer
Eddie Baccus Jr. - all saxes and EWI
Tony Darren - guitar (courtesy of Concord Jazz Group)
Maurice Chevalier - piano and arrangements
Preston Vismala - piano ("On the Edge of Things")
Mike Corbett - drums

Level343's curator insight, June 21, 2013 4:32 PM

I think the best marketing metrics look at the total cost of marketing, including program spend, salaries of the team, and overhead, and relate that cost to the results you care about -- revenue and customer acquisition. Other metrics like cost per lead, cost per follower, or cost per page view can be useful to look at within a marketing team, because they can help you make decisions about where to focus and what parts of your marketing process are broken; but most CEOs really just care about the cost and the net results, not the interim steps. This list of metrics is meant to focus on the most critical measures of marketing that your CEO will likely want to discuss with you.

Today, the keyboards have taken over our handwriting skills; and never worry about your vocabulary or spelling; all you have to do is a right click! Today, we do not even have to remember our residential address. Emails and SMS will do the necessary communication. It has drastically revolutionised the way we communicate – in real time. A daughter can skype (communicate on Skype) from any part of the world to her parents, with less or no cost. And parents witness the marriage of their children in Canada or Australia online!

Then came the Social media during the last decade. Unlike the print media or the electronic media, where there is a gap between the speaker and the audience – physical and emotional, the social media puts the two directly in touch, that too in real time. We don’t have to wait to write to news papers to get our response published; we send our responses immediately. All we need is a computer or a lap top, connected with the internet.
