Norma R. Burnson's insight:

Sustainable Food for the Globe.   Found a little gem, en joy it! .

..."In all of the classes we do an introduction to the history and principles of Permaculture, and then we get to work on site analysis and practical design ideas for apartment-scale food production, composting and other projects. Using plants for creating privacy screens, improving air quality, and providing protection from the heat are also common design goals in these situations."  *****

Training the Next Generation of Permaculture Teachers - Permaculture Magazine

Training the Next Generation of Permaculture Teachers - Permaculture Magazine | Permaculture | Scoop.it
Rosemary Morrow has been teaching permaculture for over 40 years. Now she wants to create a free space, removing financial hurdles, so any permaculture practitioner can learn to teach permaculture.
Norma R. Burnson's insight:

Sustainable Food for the Globe. Permaculture.  Teaching, the greatest thing an avid gardener can do! Kudos for you Rosemary Morrow!  ..."After four decades of teaching permaculture across the globe, often in countries suffering from natural disasters or the devastation of war, Rosemary decided to focus on teaching permaculture practitioners to become teachers. Rosemary believes there is a shortage of competent permaculture teachers, so she created the Teaching Permaculture Teachers (TPT) course to give people the skills and confidence needed to take the big step from being a practitioner to becoming a teacher.  For this course to help permaculture practitioners become teachers, it needs to be accessible to everyone, especially those with little funds to pay for a course or the means to receive face-to-face teaching. So the TPT Platform team plan to make Rosemary's course and knowledge available online for free. This digital platform will share Rosemary's 40 years of experience, sharing videos, course material, books and recordings from Rosemary's teaching, all of which will be given Creative Commons license." +++++

Sustainable Food for the Globe. Permaculture. Can the help us to killing her?  Nature has many ways of healing. Can it heal us? ..."

Everyone is capable of practicing permaculture techniques in their own lives. Growers from all around the globe are helping to heal themselves, their communities, and the environment around them by bringing Permaculture to life one seed at a time. Listening to the stories of symbiotic relationships between people and people, plants and people and plants and the earth helps to define the very essence of Permaculture. Illuminating the points at which all of these relationships intersect is up to us. Bridging the gap between cultural diversity and biodiversity is a key component in Permaculture. Paying homage to each other as stewards of the earth by offering support, encouragement and love is one way we can truly send out ripples of change to the world."  +++++

Sustainable Food for the Globe.   It is a wonderful feeling to read articles that validate Sustainable Food for the Globe's position on how to get food production in abundance.  A few months ago the validation came from a study by the United Nations; we can feed the global population using permaculture and organic gardening.  Here it is again. ..."The “Green Hearts” of our time are creating new works of art in the forms of prairie restorations, backyard gardens, orchards, community gardens, CSA Farms and permaculture villages all of which are purifying our air, improving water quality, giving nutrients back to the soil, providing food to families, and creating habitats for pollinators. In gardens around the globe, we are planting seeds of change in fields of hope. People from all walks of life are uprising. A global transition or paradigm shift is occurring. We are becoming aware of, reflecting on, and brainstorming solutions for the damage that has been done to the earth.

We are getting back to our roots and respecting the land as our ancestors did long ago. Being self sufficient is no new endeavor, but wading through the muk that the industrial revolution and monoculture have left behind makes it seem new.

Permaculture is at the heart of the solution. Permaculture is alive with possibilities of positive change.  Read more: http://www.motherearthnews.com/organic-gardening/permaculture-a-global-solution-zbcz1405.aspx#ixzz36lnHjAEX.   *****

An Introduction to Permaculture

An Introduction to Permaculture | Permaculture | Scoop.it
What Is Permaculture?
Norma R. Burnson's insight:

Sustainable Food for the Globe.  Permaculture.  what is so interesting about permaculture is that it is natural.  ..."Permaculture emphasizes the use of native plants or those that are well adapted to your local area. Plant things you like, but make sure they have a purpose and somehow benefit the landscape. Plants such as fruit trees provide food as well as shade; a patch of bamboo could provide stakes for supporting pole beans and other vining plants. Along with a standard vegetable garden, permaculture gardeners would grow many types of perennial food plants too, such as arrowhead, sorrel, chicory, and asparagus."  +++++

Norma R. Burnson's insight:

Sustainable Food for the Globe. Permaculture.  It is refreshing to know that permaculture is a sought after alternative to healing the earth.  ..."What if we designed an alternative economy that took into account, and respected, natural capital, utilised ideas of interconnections, and favoured perennial polycultures over monocultures of the field and monocultures of the mind. One such approach is forest gardening. Modelled on the structure of young natural woodland, utilising edible plants, forest gardens are carefully designed and maintained ecosystems maximising positive interactions, with fertility maintained largely or wholly by the plants themselves. The view of forest gardening is long-term." +++++
