Markets enhance the efficiency of allocation of resources - such as human labour - between competing projects, while technological innovations enhance the productivity of our use of those resources, the ability to produce more with less.

Peer Violence Among Robots, SHOCKING

This video was recorded with robots that were not programmed to do anything particular, in fact the program was sending them IR codes of random moves, but the outcome was quite surprising: behavior resembling human group dynamics, with forming pacts, isolating and bulling individuals that are flamboyant and different by skin color, a quasi social behavior of robots. Scary, after this I will be sending them to a correctional institution for re-socialization.

Atlas Smug - Citizen Consumer In Neoliberal Tomorrowlan | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

I grew up using your work. Thanks to one of my parents being employed by a university, I got to use Mosaic to browse the early Web way before most people had even heard of it. My first software development internship was a summer spent using beta versions of Netscape technologies — what was then “LiveScript”and “dynamic HTML” — to sketch new interface elements for a protean web collaboration app. I rooted for Netscape when Microsoft came barging in to the browser market. When you started A16Z a few years ago I was excited to see what you’d invest in.

What Marc Andreessen Gets Wrong About Our Future Robot Overlords - Mother Jones

What Marc Andreessen Gets Wrong About Our Future Robot Overlords - Mother Jones | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Marc Andreessen recently wrote a widely shared post about how robots will change the economy. The Netscape founder turned mega-venture-capitalist predicts that we're headed toward a future when robots do our grunt work, launching a "Golden Age" where humans are freed from wage-grubbing to do "nothing but arts and sciences, culture and exploring and learning":

New World Order - Foreign Affairs

New World Order - Foreign Affairs | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

ecent advances in technology have created an increasingly unified global marketplace for labor and capital. The ability of both to flow to their highest-value uses, regardless of their location, is equalizing their prices across the globe. In recent years, this broad factor-price equalization has benefited nations with abundant low-cost labor and those with access to cheap capital. Some have argued that the current era of rapid technological progress serves labor, and some have argued that it serves capital. What both camps have slighted is the fact that technology is not only integrating existing sources of labor and capital but also creating new ones.

Amazon deploys 10000 robot workers, a year after Obama's famous Amazon ... - ExtremeTech | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

It is clear that no sense of irony is needed to be successful in politics. If it was, then President Obama’s team might have thought more deeply about their choice of an Amazon warehouse as a showcase for one of his key speeches about jobs in the United States. Leaving aside whether warehouse jobs are great jobs or not, no company has been more aggressive as Amazon when it comes to eliminating human labor in the supply chain. When we first covered Amazon’s acquisition of warehouse-robotics company Kiva for $775 million in 2012, Amazon bragged of having 1,000 robots in its warehouses. Now CEO Bezos has said the number will be closer to 10,000 by the end of this year. Amazon claims that current employees won’t be sacked because of the additional 9,000 robots, but obviously the robots are doing a lot of work that would otherwise have required additional human employees.
