Despite the name of the PSDB, this was a clear left-right struggle, in which voters generally voted their class position, even though the programs of the two parties were on many fronts more centrist than left or right.

What Shakespeare taught me about Marxism - The Guardian

What Shakespeare taught me about Marxism - The Guardian | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Once you accept that feudalism existed, and capitalism does, there’s a big academic debate about what caused the collapse of feudalism and the rise of capitalism. Shakespeare managed to get to the essence of it without having knowledge of the terms feudalism and capitalism. Feudalism was a word invented to describe medieval society once it was over, by 17th century historians. As for capitalism, Shakespeare had seen only the earliest form of it, yet he described it well.

Be Smarter Than That, Uber Users | TechCrunch | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Gabrielle Wathen posted to the site GoFund.me, saying that she went out for her 26th birthday on the night of Halloween and, after taking an Uber an approximately 22-minute ride home around 3am, was charged $326. This means she can’t pay her $450 rent, and so she hit the crowd-funding site to ask for help. She raised upwards of $500 by using Instagram to build up awareness, which led to the story getting picked up by the media. (We saw it first on Business Insider.)

Why banking got out of control in the digital age | FT Alphaville

Why banking got out of control in the digital age | FT Alphaville | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

That at least is the argument proposed in a new book, "The end of banking - money, credit and the digital revolution" by Jonathan McMillan, a collective pseudonym for two authors who are keeping their identities secret, but who hail from the world of banking and academia.

Not to say the financial system was free of instability before the IT age, it's just that the way in which the instability was dealt with was entirely different.
