Why we should leave the EU | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq72f81kkM4 The late Tony Benn and Bob Crow would have been at the forefront  of the campaign to leave the EU. Market Capitalism is Broken: Why Adam Smith Would be Outraged by Modern Finance - Evonomics

Market Capitalism is Broken: Why Adam Smith Would be Outraged by Modern Finance - Evonomics | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Every so often a book comes along that works its way into a majority of the interesting conversations you have with both friends and colleagues. Such is the case with Rana Foroohar’s Makers and Takers: The Rise of Finance and The Fall of American Business. Foroohar was kind enough to send me an early draft to read several months ago, and I found myself quoting from it in nearly everything I subsequently wrote, in every talk I gave, and even in various Slack channels at work. Makers and Takers is that rare work of journalism that both appears at a fortuitous moment in history, and captures the essence of that moment’s core narrative.

Prehistoric peoples could kill mammoths: how about corporations?

Most legal systems today recognize the registered business firm as a distinct legal person, separate from its stockholders, board of directors or employees. In fact, laws would often refer to "natural or legal persons". It should therefore be safe to conclude that such registered business firms or corporations are persons (ie, organisms), but not "natural…

This is the “growth hack” that got my whole company started — Hacker Noon | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

It took two more years, but now, Breather is the most funded of all of the “networks of office space” startups — those seeking to do for commercial space what Airbnb or Uber did for homes and cars. Since then, we’ve raised over $30 million. We have amazing, supportive investors, we are growing rapidly, and we’re building our network and user base more rapidly each month than last. And of course, the market is huge. Should we execute, an impressive outcome is pretty much a certainty.

Simple Contracts are Better Contracts: What We Can Learn from the Meltdown of The DAO — Blockstack Blog | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

The DAO is a digital pool of funds that is governed by code. Anyone can contribute funds to the pool to purchase voting power in it, and a quorum of shares is required to release funds to support select projects, just like with Kickstarter. This “group fund” was implemented on a digital currency platform called Ethereum and recently raised $150 million from hundreds to thousands of backers.
