A Conversation with Antonio Spadaro, SJ, Journalist at Civiltà Cattolica Review, Rome

A Conversation with Antonio Spadaro, SJ, Journalist at Civiltà Cattolica Review, Rome | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
The big trend I find really encouraging about global Net usage and networking is that people are starting to really think together and build collective intelligence across borders, cultures, time zones, faiths and what have you in ways that just weren’t possible before. This, in turn, is building global consciousness: if you can read or watch content from someone or somewhere, interact with him/her/it, and even collaborate in expanding it, that person or place becomes real to you in a meaningful way, even without physical contact. With increasing Internet freedom, the only real borders left are language (you can’t read something if you can’t read the source language) and censorship. Governments that are worried about global consciousness creation are the ones that censor their citizens’ Net usage the most heavily.

Jeff Salzman, Ken Wilber, and the Missing Link in Integral Theory and Practice, Joe Corbett

Jeff Salzman, Ken Wilber, and the Missing Link in Integral Theory and Practice, Joe Corbett | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
Recently, Jeff Salzman celebrated his 100th pod-cast on current world events in his weekly broadcast “The Daily Evolver” at Integral Life by inviting Ken Wilber to join him as a guest.[1] Jeff begins his talk with an obligatory salutation to the Good, the Beautiful, and the True (“the big three”), thus setting the stage and drawing the lines for what is to come, namely, a discussion of current events that is entirely devoid of any structural analysis or acknowledgement of social institutions and the prevailing forms of justice within society. This glaring omission of the L-R quadrant of Justice is typical of Jeff's discussions, as it is of the discussions of all those in the inner-circle of Wilber-speak who say volumes about what they stand for by what they don't say. But if integral means anything it means including a discussion of all four quadrants, not just three. By continuing to announce “the big three” without Justice, the inner-circle (and the founding members of the integral movement no less!) continues to fail at being truly, fully integral -- better than “half-ass” as Ken accuses common wisdom of, but still only three-quarters-ass, and a “broken humanity” to boot without Justice on the horizon of our awareness.

Ideological Foundations of Mainstream Neoclassical Economics: Class Interests ... - Center for Research on Globalization

Ideological Foundations of Mainstream Neoclassical Economics: Class Interests ... - Center for Research on Globalization | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

There is now a widespread consensus that mainstream/neoclassical economists failed miserably to either predict the coming of the 2008 financial implosion, or provide a reasonable explanation when it actually arrived. Not surprisingly, many critics have argued that neoclassical economics has created more confusion than clarification, more obfuscation than elucidation. Economic “science” has, indeed, become “an ideological construct which serves to camouflage and justify the New World Order” [1].

Enspiral: Changing the Way Social Entrepreneurs Do Business | P2P Foundation

Enspiral: Changing the Way Social Entrepreneurs Do Business | P2P Foundation | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
While it seems clear that New Zealand-based social enterprise network Enspiral is doing exciting things in the social impact space, it can be difficult, at first, to understand what exactly Enspiral is. It is easier to begin with what Enspiral is not. Enspiral is not an incubator or an accelerator. It is not a training program, nor is it an advisory service. The website’s FAQ page, which describes Enspiral as “sort of a ‘DIY’ social enterprise support network,” offers both a promise and a warning to would-be Enspiralites. “If you’re an independent, entrepreneurial person with a deep commitment to service and social change and want to discover your own way to have an impact alongside like-minded people, Enspiral is fertile ground,” it suggests. “But you’ll need to find your own way, and there’s no program or official support.”

Collective Ritual Invocation of an Integral Post-Metaphysical Spirituality, Joe Corbett

Collective Ritual Invocation of an Integral Post-Metaphysical Spirituality, Joe Corbett | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
Newton gave us the laws of gravity which were then refined by Einstein's general theory of relativity, but there has not yet been a refinement of the Cartesian dualism between mind and matter. There is still a dichotomy in the debate between scientific materialism and its skeptics where either physical matter or consciousness is prioritized and then given supremacy of importance and origin over the other. But this is a false dichotomy precisely because there is in fact no clear distinction between mind and matter. For matter is not merely an inert object but is filled and surrounded with information, information about size, mass, charge, spin, momentum, etc., which is in constant exchange with other matter in the environment, matter that might even be said to “know” how to respond and interact according to a fixed set of forces and physical laws.
