Kate Lister's curator insight, Today, 11:28 AM

We participated in the global panel that helped shape this report. It's an amazing look at what the future of work may look like.

Among the takeaways: Work will be redefined by:

  • Adaptable, radical working patterns
  • Choice: Workers will decide where and how they want to work.
  • Location: ‘Trophy workplaces’ will provide a highly experiential environment.
  • Entrepreneurship will be the norm thanks to technological advances.
  • Collaboration will be a major driver of enterprise performance.
  • Human services will be seen as a premium offering; support services will enhance the experience as users interact with their surroundings.
  • Health and wellness will be prioritized over work.
  • A heavy reliance on networks and “crowdsourcing” to co-create product ideas.

It's a beautiful piece of work and an important read for anyone involved in workplace strategy, real estate, or the many tangential businesses.

Prime Minister of Greece | Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ article in Le Monde newspaper: Europe at crossroads

A new agreement that will keep the country in the Euro, with a viable economic program, without the mistakes of the past.

“William Rees is the co-creator of the Eco-Footprint concept. He has measured humanity’s use of the planet’s resource, and what he has discovered is frightening. We are using more resources than the planet can possibly supply us with. Without a huge change in the way we live, our planet-wide civilization will likely collapse. This 29-minute documentary is a compilation of his lectures, and a summary of his warning.”

(29) What would a minimal technical infrastructure for a global democracy look like?

Michel Bauwens: "Democracy can never just be a technical question, and never be just a voting question; it involves deliberation ,participation, and voting; it can also never be exclusively "online" and requires physical meetings as much as online input. Having said this, the first requirement is the universal access to the means of communication, either through personal ownership of network devices, or the availability of physical places where these means are available. Fortunately, the mobile telephone has made such access much more feasible than in the place. One of the key innovations should undoubtedly be the generalisation of real-time proxy-voting, or 'liquid democracy'. This means that every individual can delegate his vote on issue to people he trusts, but can also withdraw that vote when that trust is broken, or when his/her opinion changes. But all this is a sideshow if we do not break the subordination of democracy to the power of ownership, and vest it squarely in the power of citizenship. And this requires old-fashioned political and social mobilization."

Everyone Failed To Ride This Bicycle. The Reason Behind Is Mind-Boggling

Everyone Failed To Ride This Bicycle. The Reason Behind Is Mind-Boggling | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Watch this and one might get an idea why (social & system) change is so difficult to come by - even if an old way of doing things is considered broken.
If whole societies relentlessly got and get told and taught that ‪#‎TINA‬ "There is no alternative" to neoliberal capitalism, it will appear there isn't indeed - even though there are ‪#‎TAPAS‬ "There are plenty of alternatives".
The mind(-set) seems to be the key.
