Cockroaches are some of the most resilient creatures on earth. They can live for 45 minutes without air and over a month without food. Cutting their heads off won’t even kill them—at least not immediately. Their bodies can live on for several days without their heads.

With This Fake Toilet-Sharing App, The Joke's On The Sharing Economy

You can make a case either way. On the one hand, apps like Airpnp, which launched in New Orleans last year, now have listings for hundreds of toilets around the world. Presumably, they could be useful if you're stuck in a crowd (say, at a street festival) and other options, like public bathrooms, aren't available. On the other hand, Airbnb for toilets? It sounds like a joke just writing it down.

Food Commons Project - P2P Foundation

Food Commons Project - P2P Foundation | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

"One priority is to shape our actions in such a way that they start to reconfigure these systems on a bioregional scale. In food, advanced prototypes are already being tested. The Food Commons, for example, launched in the US in 2009, is the the world’s first prototype for a designed regional food system. The Food Commons platform features the physical, financial and organisational elements of an infrastructure that’s designed to connect myriad small to mid-sized enterprises: farms; food processor; distributors, retailers. The platform helps these foodshed actors to collaborate by providing advanced communications tools, community-based economic models, and scientific knowledge about sustainable agriculture. For Professor Larry Lee, founder of The Food Commons, “the Food Commons represents a whole new cloth; it’s woven from threads of several successful organizations, business enterprises, and disciplines”." How Rio’s residents are fighting World Cup inflation with fake currency

How Rio’s residents are fighting World Cup inflation with fake currency | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

The residents of Rio have had enough. Fed up with high inflation and rip-off prices ahead of this year’s World Cup and the Olympics in 2016, they have set up a Facebook page called “Rio $urreal – Don’t Pay” dedicated to “exposing and boycotting the extortionate prices being charged by bars, restaurants and shops”. It has quickly gathered close on 150,000 supporters, and is growing fast.

Why Bitcoin Is 'Good Money' For The Global Digital Era - Business Insider

Why Bitcoin Is 'Good Money' For The Global Digital Era - Business Insider | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

There are many facets to discussing and understanding the potential role in the world of digital money such as Bitcoin. A great deal of the discussion focuses on what I would describe as “policy issues” – e.g. what market and policy mechanisms are needed to ensure price stability, combat financial crime, ensure tax compliance, and provide adequate protections to consumers holding these assets. While important, these issues are distinct from a more imperative discussion around the essential characteristics of the underlying asset itself.
