Internet Governance – Who Rules the Internet?

Internet Governance – Who Rules the Internet? | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
So who is responsible for the change in the way the Internet is governed? I would, quite honestly, lay blame for this change squarely on the doorstep of the US federal government. Over the past three years, the US government has moved from a largely “hands off” approach to actively attempting to interject US societal concerns into the operation of the Internet. These interjections have principally been in two areas: law enforcement and advancement of the intellectual property rights of certain industries. Each time the US government has used its unique position as the virtual hub of Internet commerce to advance these issues, the multi-stakeholder model has been undermined.

Co-Creating as Disruption to the Dominant Cultural Framework - Wirearchy

Co-Creating as Disruption to the Dominant Cultural Framework - Wirearchy | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Co-creating ..

.. is a term we’re starting to hear very often, and perhaps too often too soon.   I think it might cheapen and mis-direct the important process of making deep changes to the ‘colonization’ (by the rampant corporatism of today) of the exchanges between people that are necessary to create almost anything that finds form and expression.

A Brief History of P2P Urbanism

A Brief History of P2P Urbanism | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

P2P (peer-to-peer) Urbanism joins ideas from the open-source software movement together with new thinking by urbanists, into a discipline oriented towards satisfying human needs. P2P-Urbanism is concerned with cooperative and creative efforts to define space for people’s use. This essay explains P2P-Urbanism as the outcome of several historical processes, describes the cooperative participation schemes that P2P-Urbanism creates, and indicates the possible outcomes of applying P2P-Urbanism in different human environments.

Venezuela's New Labour Law: The Best Mother's Day Gift

Venezuela's New Labour Law: The Best Mother's Day Gift | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Here is some news that the conservative critics of Venezuela's leftist government will not publicize. The Chavistas announced that a new labour law, part of which will grant recognition to non-salaried work traditionally done by women, will come into effect this week. Full-time mothers will now be able to collect a pension.

Swarmwise – The Tactical Manual To Changing The World. Chapter One. - Falkvinge on Infopolicy

Swarmwise – The Tactical Manual To Changing The World. Chapter One. - Falkvinge on Infopolicy | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Somewhere today, a loose-knit group of activists who are having fun is dropkicking a rich, established organization so hard they are making heads spin. Rich and resourceful organizations are used to living by the golden rule – “those with the gold make the rules”. New ways of organizing go beyond just breaking the old rules into downright shredding them – leaving executives in the dust, wondering how that band of poor, rag-tag, disorganized activists could possibly have beaten their rich, well-structured organization.

Rice University Professor: SkyNET's Gonna Take Ur Jerbs! - Techdirt | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
It's sad to note how collective humanity has done an ostrich on the warnings about the machines. Still the NFL exists, robbing us of our best and brightest, who will no longer be available for thecoming war with SkyNET. Conferences on what to do about the surely coming robot horde haveproduced little in the way of a path forward and have gone relatively unreported in any case. Due to this, we know very little about what form the non-existent threat of terminator-like metal monsters will take. Will they simply wage war against us? Will they syphon our body heat for energy? Will they farm our skin and dance around in it to Goodbye Horses, like some kind of graphite Buffalo Bill?

The Digital Keys Blog: Digital keys - what the sharing economy needs to go into hyperdrive

The Digital Keys Blog: Digital keys - what the sharing economy needs to go into hyperdrive | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
Why pay through the nose for something when you can rent it more cheaply from a stranger online? This is the premise for the 'sharing economy'. Other terms being thrown around for this relatively new phenomenon (well its around 4 years old now) include, "collaborative consumption", the "asset-light lifestyle", the "collaborative economy", "peer economy", or "access economy". What the share economy is missing right now is "affordable and convenient access control" or "digital keys". With digital keys the sharing economy would go into hyper-drive.

2013 Intelligence Future -- The Third Era of Local to Global Intelligence Robert Steele Overview & Workshop 2.7 | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

I am especially interested in NATO and White SOF as well as emerging regional associations that want to create M4IS2 Decision-Support Centres (MDSC) and push back on external influences that are both toxic and untruthful.  Most of our policies — for example the war on drugs — are hypocritical, unaffordable, and not based on ethical evidence.  The time for the world to get a grip on reality and begin bothOSC and  M4IS2 is now.  Will gladly accept corporate funding of travel on a business development basis.

Brain to Brain: Turning Neuroscience Into Wisdom - Huffington Post (blog)

Brain to Brain: Turning Neuroscience Into Wisdom - Huffington Post (blog) | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Our higher nature is hardwired into us. As demonstrated in Rebecca Saxe's talk -- our brains do function to help create empathy and morality. But -- how we act can also alter our biology. We are brains perceiving other brains. We are also likely more than merely that -- and we must have the wisdom of transforming and integrating brain knowledge ultimately into a better collective self-understanding and a more compassionate world. This can be the wisdom of neuroscience.

Beginners' guide to using technology in language lessons - EducationGuardian.co.uk (blog)

Beginners' guide to using technology in language lessons - EducationGuardian.co.uk (blog) | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

This is a fantastic way for pupils to share and celebrate their learning but a blog does need an audience to keep it alive for pupils. A teacher can set up a class blog with individual student pages and it is incredibly easy to do and manage and allows the pupils chance to write exclusively in the language they have been learning. As the teacher you will probably need to populate the blog with articles to get the ball rolling and the pupils engaged but once they get the hang of it not only will they be leaving comments but also writing their own posts too. The British Council has a simple guide for setting up a class blog.

Now Here's An Interesting Problem About Google Glass And Prescription Lenses - Forbes | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

It’s said that Google GOOG +0.52% is experimenting with Google Glass and prescription lenses. To cater to those who need eyesight correction but don’t want to either wear contacts or to cram the Google Glass frames on over their regular spectacles. Which sounds exceedingly sensible to me I must say. However, this then brings its own problems, at least over here in Europe it will. For over here, at least in most countries, you either can’t sell prescription glasses online or face strict restrictions upon who may do so. And Google Glass is going to be much too expensive to want to have pairs in each and every opticians so that the opticians can sell the
