The Cybersyn experiment, lessons from a past failure in mutual coordination economics | P2P Foundation | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

What pricing is for market allocation, and decisions are for planning, mutual coordination is for commons economics. Two previous experiments, the failed Russian internet described in Francis Spufford’s Red Plenty and the Cybersin experiment described in Eden Medina’s Cybernetic Revolutionaries, failed. We have argued that commons-oriented peer production offers a unique chance to revive these practices (see here), but below, Eden Medina looks back at what went wrong in Chile, even before Pinochet destroyed the project:

Coliberation - P2P Foundation

Coliberation - P2P Foundation | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

"CoLiberation is what happens when we work extraordinarily well together. Like on a basketball team or in an orchestra, when we actually experience ourselves sharing in something bigger than any one who is present. This is what I call the experience of the "Big WE." It's a corollary to the "Big ME" experience of self-transcendence. If the Big ME is the "peak experience," CoLiberation or the Big WE, is like becoming a whole mountain range." 10 Lessons from Kenya's Remarkable Cooperatives

10 Lessons from Kenya's Remarkable Cooperatives | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

For many people concerned about inequality in the United States, cooperatives represent a beacon of hope. By replacing big banks with credit unions, and precarious workplaces with worker-owned ones, we might someday do away with the worst ravages of capitalism.
