Listen, Anarchists!

The only way to change the structure of wealth in society, is to change the way we produce and share, by producing and distributing wealth differently, we change the structure of society itself. The preamble of constitution of the IWW states this quite well: “The army of production must be organized, not only for everyday struggle with capitalists, but also to carry on production when capitalism shall have been overthrown. By organizing industrially we are forming the structure of the new society within the shell of the old”

The Next Stage of Organizational Evolution

The Next Stage of Organizational Evolution | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

We are witnessing an evolutionary step change in how we operate and organize: a shift from linear, mechanistic, control-based modes of operating toward living, emergent, self-organizing, life-affirming organizations. This shift is the greatest challenge facing leaders, managers and change agents today, according to Peter Senge; a shift in human consciousness, according to Ken Wilber.

The Peer-to-Peer Economy - A Turning Point in Human History - Walden Labs

The Peer-to-Peer Economy - A Turning Point in Human History - Walden Labs | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

When most people hear this type of “internet revolution” talk these days, their tendency is to roll their eyes and go on with their day. After all, we’ve been hearing about this revolution since the dawn of the World Wide Web, when the buzzword “Information Superhighway” was drilled into our heads ad nauseum by any number of now-laughable news segments, infomercials and tutorials. But here we are two decades later and we’re still working long hours, still struggling to make ends meet, still struggling to send our kids to college and still struggling to afford a few weeks vacation a year.

This Peer-to-Peer economy that is rising up to replace the Industrial/Information economy is difficult to see in its totality, but is everywhere around us.

Ethereum: Freenet or Skynet? | Guerrilla Translation! | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

What is Ethereum? Can this technology actually support the establishment of a utopian, free, and decentralized society? Or could it instead promote a more dystopian vision of society – or even a Skynet? Before we can understand anything about Ethereum, we must first understand Bitcoin: what it is, and how it works.

Beware The Pretty People

Beware The Pretty People | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Capitalism won’t be violently overthrown. Nor should it be. Whatever system(s) may one day supplant it will instead grow quietly in the shadows of its tallest towers, and coexist for years. But in order for that to happen, I believe we need our true iconoclasts, dangerous freethinkers, and weird subversives to flock to the tech industry — rather than recoil from it in disgust, now that the pretty people have invaded.

OuiShare 2015, From Transition to Transformation: The Elephant in the Room

OuiShare 2015, From Transition to Transformation: The Elephant in the Room | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

#OSFest15  -  May 21, 22:  Just a few steps into the main entry hall of Cabaret Sauvage, the site of the OuiShare 2015 event, was a large, black chalkboard. On the board there was a drawing of an elephant, and the phrase, “Share Your Elephant in the Room”. In case the expression “elephant in the room” isn’t familiar, it refers to a very obvious fact which nobody wants to talk about, one which is more convenient to politely ignore. I regret not taking a picture of that sign, because as the second and third days of OuiShareFest 2015 proceeded, it became clear that the elephant was loose in the room and, more importantly, lots of voices were calling him out.

How Society Will Be Transformed By CryptoEconomics — Medium | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

We messed up when we built the internet. I’m not talking about Javascript. Despite the web’s fantastically successful decentralized headless nature — the first internet protocols did not bake some key features in to the protocol layer cake. The missing features are distributed user accounts, data storage, and asset ownership tracking.

"The Fierce Urgency of Now": 3 days in Belgium | Transition Network | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
Something very powerful feels to me like it is starting to move.  I see it in the victory of Syriza in Greece on a platform of localisation, resilience building and sustainability as an antidote to austerity.  I see it in the explosion of craft breweries, farmers markets, community energy companies and so on, in Scotland's moratorium on gas fracking. I also saw it in the two days I just spent in Belgium supporting the great work of the regional Transition hub “Wallonia-Brussels” there.  The trip was also to support the Belgian release of the French language version of The Power of Just Doing Stuff (“Ils Changent le Monde”).
