More Canadian consumers seeking green products and services in current ... - DigitalJournal.com | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Canadians are increasingly looking for green products and services, and many are even willing to pay more for them, but they may be selective on which they choose based on the strength of environmental claims. The findings, that suggest an important shift to mainstream green purchasing practices, are a result of an inaugural survey on green purchasing behaviours and attitudes in Canada commissioned by SCA, the maker of the Tork® brand of away-from-home hygiene products.  As an international leader in creating an ethical and sustainable marketplace, SCA worked with Leger in Canada to capture in-the-moment consumer insights that reflect market trends.

Winning the Green Energy Revolution - CounterPunch

Winning the Green Energy Revolution - CounterPunch | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

The outcome will depend on YOUR activism, and will determine whether we survive here at all. Four very large wind turbines in this small Ohio town are producing clean, cheap electricity that can help save our planet. A prime reason they exist is that Bowling Green has a municipalowned utility. When it came time to go green, the city didn’t have to beg some corporateowned electric monopoly to do it for them.

Big Data on the Smart Grid: 2013 in Review and 2014 Outlook - Energy Collective

Big Data on the Smart Grid: 2013 in Review and 2014 Outlook - Energy Collective | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

"Big data" may be the most overused buzz-phrase in the smart grid industry today. But that doesn’t mean that managing, analyzing and deriving operational and customer value from the massive amounts of data being collected by utilities isn’t important and valuable -- or that utilities aren't spending on it. GTM Research has pegged the value of the global utility data analytics market at a cumulative $20 billion between 2013 and 2020, growing from an annual spend of $1.1 billion this year to nearly $4 billion by decade’s end.

Good news for the green economy

Good news for the green economy | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

It is time, I think we can all agree, for some good news. So thanks to theNetherlands Environmental Assessment Agency and its report todaysuggesting the global growth in carbon emissions faced a dramatic slowdown last year. Total emissions grew by 1.1 per cent, or 1.4 per cent when you account for the fact it was a leap year, less than half the 2.9 per cent average seen over the past decade. Maybe, just maybe, a peak in global emissions is still within our reach.

Can we believe China's Corporate Social Responsibility rhetoric?

Can we believe China's Corporate Social Responsibility rhetoric? | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

"China is talking the talk of Corporate Social Responsibility in its 12th 5-year plan. It has even endorsed the UN Guidelines on Business and Human Rights. Simon Zadek argues that the new economic superpower sees a real interest in responsible and clean business, and that deeds will follow the rhetoric" (Source: Open Democracy)

Excellent must-read analysis of China's efforts to move to a cleaner and greener economy model. Is he painting too much of a rosy picture?

Corporate Social Repsonsibility with the Human Rights record China has, for example in Tibet? Sorry, I don't buy it - this may have some areas of substance but is basically greenwash.
