HOW SCOOP IT CHANGED MY SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING STRATEGY BY ACCIDENT

As I began this process of building my "brand" .. creating my online image and my professional presentation, I had a lot to figure out.  I created my first website, facebook and Linked In account.  I made the decision to "market" myself a Lite Feet dancer, if you read my bio it is one of the accomplishments in my life for which I am very proud.  The problem there was no single source of information of LITE FEET DANCE.   My introduction to Scoop It was perfect timing, it gave me an opportunity to create a LITE FEET SCOOP -- I had been dancing since I was 14 and I had come to know all the founders and the main Lite Feet websites, the history of Lite Feet dance,  the multitude of YouTube Channels, websites, facebook pages and Lite Feet Sound Cloud accounts, and I felt a great responsibility to curate and create the first and only LITE FEET SCOOP.  Creating this scoop gave me a link to provide as a reference to my own "LIte Feet Dancer" identity but also was a unique opportunity to curate, what I believe to be, an important, relevent and for the most part unnoticed dance phenom and YouTube Sensation that is  Lite Feet Dance.  My efforts to high lite the incredible talent of these young dancers has been an honor and I will continue to add to scoop as new content becomes available.

DLite Scoops Lite Feet Dance:

http://www.scoop.it/t/lite-feet-dance ;

I then created several other relevent scoops for my story, and I created them in the hopes that sharing my journey would hopefully help others with similar journeys.

SCOOPS --  I began using Scoop when I was defining myself a LITE FEET DANCER.  There was no single source of info about Lite Feet dance, a NYC Born Battle dance phenom and YouTube Sensation.  I created LITE FEET SCOOP TO reference for my own resume but also to provide anyone interested a link to the multitude of YOUTUBE Channels, Sound Cloud and personal sites dedicated to this unique art form and the talented dancers who participate.

The new WISE Publication, to be released in 2014, will focus on the link between new technologies and learning. Graham Brown-Martin, Founder of Learning Without Frontiers and Founder of Education Design Labs, will write the third WISE Book, which will be illustrated by the creative photography of award-winning photographer Newsha Tavakolian.

why [has] technology, to date, had very little impact on improved learning outcomes? This could be because we continue to use technology to reinforce 19th century teaching practice to meet out-dated assessment models.

Most of the world’s curriculum and assessment systems are based around fact recall rather than actually demonstrating that you have learned something and can deploy it within a problem-solving situation.

Our  education system is nothing more than child-care with some

indoctrination thown in.

See/hear "The Wall" by Pink Floyd  (40+ years ago.)

Let the children play until they are old enough to decide what they are interested in learning. That's completely different than training them from Day 1 to "sit still, be quiet, and obey authority." Training a 5-year old to become a "worker" or 'Businessman"  is not education, but it may be child abuse.

===> Good content curation doesn't consist of simply regurgitating content that others have published. Your brand story-telling must include a human element in the form of personalizing the information and making it compelling to your social media followers. <===

Successful programs provide context and communicate it in a transparent fashion, enabling you to amplify your brand message and create passionate subscribers.

Teacher Education in Finland

Teacher Education in Finland | Pedagogy and technology of online learning | Scoop.it

Finland is generally recognized as one of the world’s highest performing nations. Over the past decade, Finnish students have been high performers on the international PISA exams.

In Finnish schools, students never take a standardized test. How is their progress assessed? By their teachers.

Finnish educators say that the key totheir success is the high quality of their teachers. Not just a star here and there, but the profession as a whole has high standards for entry and for preparation. There are no shortcuts o becoming a teacher in Finland. Teachers are highly respected, just as much as other professions.

Tener en cuenta...

AnnC's curator insight, September 30, 2013 4:20 PM

We need to create a culture that respects the teaching profession as much as any other as will create our future leaders.

Vrinda Boodram's curator insight, December 6, 2013 3:48 PM

I applaud the approach on education taken by Finland. Staying clear of a content-driven, test-based system is clearly  the way to go based on their success rate! Relying on standardized testing to measure students’ success only demoralizes the ability of the students (especially those who are not good test-takers), and even the teachers since they too are judged and evaluated based on how their students perform. Testing tolerance simply strips children of their confidence and teachers of their ability to creatively teach, and as a result disables children from achieving their maximum potential.

The respect that Finnish teachers have is also drastically different to that of the U.S. where the notorious phrase is, “those can’t do, teach.” The enforcement of educators having a Masters degree and undergoing extensive training for entry and preparation seems to be the reason why that level of respect is upheld. The fact that only one of ten teachers is accepted to teacher colleges is a clear indication of the rigour and competitiveness of the program. This type of structure ensures that only the best of the best become teachers of the future leaders of the nation.

Hypocrisy in the Profession of Education

Hypocrisy in the Profession of Education | Pedagogy and technology of online learning | Scoop.it
Whenever I think of a teacher, I also think of a scholar. It has always been apparent to me that if one is to be an effective teacher, one must continually learn. Of course that is not always a pat...

As educators we must be learners first. If we are to be better educators, we must first be better learners. We may not always have a choice in what we learn.

After so long not being involved with learning, many educators do not know how much they do not know.

===> How can they make decisions on what they need to learn, if they are unaware of the existence of many of the things they need to know? <===

===> To be better educators, we first need to be better learners. <===

The biggest hypocrisy of the Education Profession is that the educators too often have become poor learners ===> unwilling to leave their comfort zones to improve their learning. <===
