BillGuard 1st to Integrate iPhone Passbook, Starbucks, Amex to Follow - by Jim Bruene, NetBanker | Payments 2.0 | Scoop.it

Jim Bruene writes: Apple's Passbook is a massive wildcard in the race for mobile payments, banking and rewards. Will the iPhone's massive user base take to it like they did iTunes, or will it be one of those ideas that sounded good on the drawing board, but just doesn't resonate with consumers? ...

Therese's comment: BillGuard is more of a startup, a social billing service to post billing complaints online.https://www.billguard.com/team, the real test will be to see if Sarbucks and Amex really join, asJim claims they're about to do... Stay tuned !

Then why is it so popular? It's not because you can pay for a latte with your phone instead of pulling out cash or a credit card, but because it's also your loyalty card...

Square Partners With Starbucks, Raises $25M For Series D - TechCrunch

Square Partners With Starbucks, Raises $25M For Series D - TechCrunch | Payments 2.0 | Scoop.it

It might not be the funding announcement we've been hearing rumors about, but today Square announced that they've partnered with Starbucks. Beginning this fall, Square will begin processing all U.S. credit and debit card transactions at participating Starbucks stores across their 7,000 locations...

Therese's comment: Rumor was that Square had secured another $200 million, before these $25 million from Starbucks http://www.scoop.it/t/payments-2-0/p/2356786035/twitter-dorsey-expected-to-become-billionaire-as-square-value-soars . Jack Dorsey had said he was looking for $250 million.

In any case Starbucks brings Square much more than money: huge visibility, credibility, distribution... Alliances are everything in the payment ecosystem. Well done !
