Teaching a Daughter She Can Do Anything, When A.L.S. Means Her Mother Can't

Teaching a Daughter She Can Do Anything, When A.L.S. Means Her Mother Can't | parenting | Scoop.it
First, I couldn’t carry my daughter up the stairs. Then I couldn’t carry her from the door of her bedroom to the bed. Now she’s 3, and I can’t even pick her up. (Teaching a Daughter She Can Do Anything, When #ALS Means Her Mother Can't.
Melissa Jeffrey's insight:

I think this is an interesting article to think about not just for mobility issues, but any issue as a parent where I act a certain way. Like "911 is a joke" or even freaking out when a cop car is near. They learn things from us everyday that I don't always want them to learn.

Some Texas Parents Can No Longer Walk Their Kids Into School — Thanks to Sandy Hook

Some Texas Parents Can No Longer Walk Their Kids Into School — Thanks to Sandy Hook | parenting | Scoop.it
Readers — Here’s the rub. Some schools in Texas are no longer allowing parents to walk their kids directly to their classrooms, as a result of Sandy Hook. On the one hand, that’s great!
Melissa Jeffrey's insight:

We get him there on time for a reason and we can't even make sure he is in line.
