As we all know, seeing the "authentic" pictures of a celebrity marriage or their newborn children on the cover of a magazine is a big deal to many who follow celebrity culture. They can't wait to see pictures of what the celebrity bride wore or how beautiful the celebrity newborn child is. To us, it's something entertaining to look at but to the celebrities, its a huge money maker and often these celebrities shop around various magazines to assure that they recieve the most amount of money possible for either their own profit or charity. When hearing how much these celebrities get paid to show a few pictures of their big day or holding their newborn, it is quite astounding. For example, Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie reportedly recieved $14 million to have their picture of twins Knox and Vivienne on the cover of People magazine. So is it ethical for celebrities to recieve this amount of money for a simple few pictures of their children? According to Dr. Bruce Weinstein, The Ethics Guy, it is wrong for celebrities to sell photos of their babies, even if the money goes to charity, arguing that it is contributing to the degradation of our culture and exploits these children who have no choice in the matter. When speaking of ethics, one can disagree with Weinstein arguing that it is ethical because many in society request to see such pictures and will continue buying these magazines that feature brides and babies on the cover, no matter how much celebrities get paid. This is what makes ethics so interesting because what may be ethical to one may be completely unethical to another and this is no different when discussing this particular topic.
