Before the advent of Twitter, most educators I know had limited opportunities to collaborate with colleagues outside their building. Some subscribed to listservs or participated in online forums, but these outlets lacked critical mass; teachers also networked at in-person conferences and training sessions, but these isolated events didn't provide ongoing support. Enter Twitter. I've heard many educators say that Twitter is the most effective way to collaborate and that they've learned more with Twitter than they have from years of formal professional development.

Pinterest is a promising visual bookmarking platform. It is gaining in popularity more and more and of course teachers and educators are part of this success for there are now a burgeoning number of educational boards on Pinterest where you can get free access to tons of web tools and teaching tips.There are also some great educational Pinners that are committed to sharing useful resources with their fellow teachers. In this regard, Educational Technology and Mobile Learning has its own Pinterest Board where we have been pinning everything we publish here or we find in other blogs and websites, make sure to follow us to stay updated about our future pinnings.

"While I was taking a survey today about Response to Intervention (RTI) I began to reflect about how RTI and Data-Driven Instruction have affected my school. In the past few years, I have noticed teachers becoming overwhelmingly stressed about Standardized State Tests. Teachers feel like they don't have enough time to lesson-plan in order to appropriately meet the needs of their students. Moreover, teachers feel that the precious planning-time in which they do get is being wasted during team meetings and other scheduled events. Teachers are becoming depressed because they are feeling like they are doing their students a disservice by "teaching to the tests" and there isn't anything that they can do about it. This unfortunately creates an extremely negative atmosphere that is contagious to all valued stake-holders in a school system."
