PakViewsReviews: India to build 292 Dams in Himalayas causing 8% reduction in Indus River water

PakViewsReviews: India to build 292 Dams in Himalayas causing 8% reduction in Indus River water | PakViewsReviews - Everything About Pakistan | Scoop.it
Govt of India aims to build 292 dams in Indian Himalayas over next several decades. This indian dam-building program will result in 8% reduction in Indus River water for Pakistan.
Salman Saleem's insight:

Governement of India (GOI) is planning to go for a dam-building marathon of 292 dams in Indian Himalayas over the course of several decades. Effects of it on Pakistan and Bangladesh will be deavastating. Water supply from the Indus and Brahmaputra rivers will decrease by about 8 percent and 20 percent respectively. This dam-construction program may fulfill Indian energy requirements in times to come. But it will cost them heavily on environmental grounds. There will be massive people relocation due to dams.
