Many in Norway's capital Oslo are unhappy that from 2019, the cars will be banned from city centre. Norway is 9th largest exporter of oil and experts 84 % of its oil that has made Norway rich. Norway's way: make others emit GHGs by remaining green and rich.

Over-fishing , over-eating, climate change, acidification of sea water and rich people's greed for luxury food like sea cucumber are the reasons. Poor people's  need and Rich people's greed reducing overall feed.

The Earth has entered a "new period of extinction", a study by three US universities concludes, and humans could be among the first casualties.

Since 1900, the report says, more than 400 more vertebrates had disappeared. We humans,  the smartes vertebrates are already ' walking  Extincts'. We have no backbone to take decision to conserve the nature.

The only legacy of the previous government that India’s Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar carries with him is the name of the building from which he operates - Indira Prayavaran Bhavan (Indira Environment House).  Everything else about him portrays a refreshingly stark Indian aspirations and sculpting of a new heritage of environmental governance.

There is much talk about innovation in technology and innovation in policies for India’s inclusive growth. The new government’s environment ministry also needs innovation in its environmental diplomacy.

Dutch ruling could trigger similar cases worldwide with citizens taking their governments to courts to make them act on climate promises

Scientists have been warning for two decades,  Pope made passionate and hitting argument and now the Judges are directing the governments to act. Would it make change? In the past similar judgements in Philippines made impacts in slowing deforestation and in New Delhi in banning  use of diesel in public buses. Developing countries showing the way.

Orders are now coming from Judges to the Government to cut GHG emissions . A court in the Netherlands orders the government to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 25% by 2020, in a class action suit launched by activists.

rajendrashende's insight:

Looks like this is the way to go on climate change. Kyoto lacked the teeth to punish those who do not meet the committed reduction. Hope Court in the Netherlands imposes punishment if the target is not achieved.

Darfur conflict in 2003,  Arab Spring in Dec 2010 and Syrian spring of 2011, have origins in Climate Change

The wars and conflicts in 21st century appear to be sectarian but deeper study shows that it's core causative origin is in climate change. UN needs to convene a group of social and climate experts to assess such conflicts.
